For someone who has repeatedly denied plans to run for president, Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren sure sounded like a potential 2016 candidate on Monday, when she talked about what she can personally do for the working class and for Washington.

Speaking at the International Association of Firefighters Conference, Warren said she “will be a strong voice for working people across country,” adding “I will do it because it’s right.”

Warren began with a shout-out to her state and applauded the firefighters in Boston, noting a “special kind of courage” it takes to put their lives on the line. She recognized two Boston firefighters who died on the job this year. Then, she quickly pivoted to put blame on the U.S. for not providing equipment, training and a larger force. 

This neglect isn’t just limited to fire departments, she pointed out, noting how “starving services” extends to roads, medical research and schools. 

“Why is there no money to make the country work?” Warren asked the group. She then responded, “I’ll tell you: The game is rigged … it’s getting worse day by day.”

The senator has a solution for those problems: Elizabeth Warren.

“So I’m here today to say this isn’t right, I’m here to say that our spending should align with our values … I can rail on about what’s wrong in Washington and I will rail on about what’s wrong in Washington,” Warren said. 

And she aligned herself with those in the room, adding, “I’m proud to be standing shoulder-to-shoulder with you fighting for hardworking families across this country.”

Though Warren has taken no concrete steps to formalize a run, and has time and time again said it’s not on her agenda, she continues to garner support. Last month, New York’s Working Families Party joined the effort to draft the progressive senator, calling her ”the nation’s most powerful voice for working families fighting against a set of rules written by and for big banks.”

“That’s the debate we want to see, and that’s why we’re urging Senator Warren to run for President,” the group’s director said.

Not at all. They have every right to vote for an increase in government welfare, paid for by an increase in taxes on those still working.

Certainly you're a believer in giving to those in need by those with the ability to pay. I know Karl Marx is.

But you bring up a good point. If the federal government continues to dole out money for specific welfare rather than for general welfare, then I think we should limit voting rights to taxpayers only.

In addition, both Harvard’s guidelines and federal regulations for the statistics lay out a specific definition of Native American that Warren does not meet.

The documents suggest for the first time that either Warren or a Harvard administrator classified her repeatedly as Native American in papers prepared for the government in a way that apparently did not adhere to federal diversity guidelines. A Pole may not get the nuances of this for some Americans. Claiming ancestry to American natives can be seen as a positive cache - I guess being 100% Anglo- Saxon is undesirable these days - sort of like Hillary discovered she has Jewish relatives in her past or sort of like that Scicilian American actor who pretended he was an Indian after playing one for decades.

Also, it brings up resentment for some whites who feel minorities are given a share of a shrinking pie at their expense.

Outside of a DNA test, I don't know for sure but living in Oklahoma as her ancestors did means there is a very high likely hood her ancestry could include American Indians - that is not that big a deal - it is a big deal taken into the mix of American ethnic politics taboos - we forget how Indians were in some cases hated worse than blacks were and such biases live on generationaly. That does not mean they hate her because she is Indian but they may hate her for linking herself with Indians or with the hated minority preference programs.

Nor do you understand that sometimes in a free society people work for the government for a while,and then spend the rest of their working lives working in the private sector.

BTW,while I have no doubt you consider being a professional soldier "working for the government" because of your communist/fascist background,in free societies we consider military service to be "working for the country and the people".

Unlike the military in your "socialist "paradises",the military in free countries don't enforce laws and have no professional interactions with the civilian population.

Get someone to explain the concept of "private sector" to you. Make sure you have medical help on standby because it's going to come as a shock to you.
