Mexican Invasion Title: Ted Cruz: GOP leadership planned to cave on Obama’s illegal amnesty all along Ted Cruz says the Republican leadership in both the House and Senate had planned all along on losing this illegal immigration fight to Obama and the Democrats, suggesting this fight was nothing more than kabuki theater and that Republicans were never serious about it: HUFFINGTON POST Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) charged Tuesday that Republican leaders in Congress had planned all along to capitulate in their battle to defund President Barack Obamas immigration actions. Cruzs remarks came soon after House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) decided to bring up a clean bill to fund the Department of Homeland Security, backing down from the effort to use department funding to strip authority for Obamas executive actions. Unfortunately, leaderships plan was never to win this fight, Cruz told reporters Tuesday. Since December, the outcome has been baked in the cake. It was abundantly clear to anyone watching that leadership in both houses intended to capitulate on the fight against amnesty, Cruz said, adding, It was a strategy doomed to failure. Its an old adage in Washington: Never take a hostage youre not prepared to shoot. There was no chance, zero, that Republicans were going to fail to fund the Department of Homeland Security because Republicans care deeply about homeland security, Cruz continued. If we had been serious about this fight, and we should have been, the continuing resolution [under which DHS funding expired in February 2015] should have focused on the EPA, or the IRS or the Department of Labor, Cruz said. Now, those are departments which a majority would be prepared to allow funding to temporarily expire in order to use as leverage. When a reporter pointed out that Cruz himself did not take advantage of an opportunity in last weeks battle to delay funding a little longer, the senator defended himself, saying: I have fought against executive amnesty at every stage using every tool that is available. Leadership has made the decision to capitulate. Reached for comment, a spokesman for McConnell shrugged off Cruzs words. A spokesman for Boehner did not immediately answer a request for comment. Im telling you, Cruz is going to be a force to be reckoned with if he runs for president. If hes willing to be this frank about his own party, calling them out for refusing to fight for this country, and is willing to be even more frank about the Democratic Party and how they are trying to destroy this country, then he sounds like a man I want for president.
Poster Comment: Cruz warned us of the coming "sabotage" by the GOP.

He did. I pooh-poohed him over it. It seems he was right.
