Can any of you imagine the NYT placing a title like that at the head of a story about fund-raising by a Dim candidate,even though the Dims are the richest group of politicians and donors in our country? For example,Warren Buffett is said to be the 5th riches man in the WORLD,and he is a major Obomber backer and adviser. Why are there no articles by the left about how wealthy Buffet is and how he is buying policy? BTW,I am thinking thinking that "Politically Biased Headlines" might make an interesting ping list. Most of them went to public school and learned to read and write there. They went on to college, most of them to state schools, and they had tuition assistance there. They work long hours sometimes, and they see a lot of human misery. They see the degree to which poverty relief is done through welfare, food stamps, Medicaid, and they see what isn't done. Their editors are old enough to be contemplating Social Security and Medicare and 401(k)s. Also, reporters have often passed through unemployment - they have collected an unemployment check and realized what a lifesaver it is. So, the people who do the reporting and writing are themselves beneficiaries of the modern social safety net and access to education they had through public institutions, and they see the necessity for the programs of poverty relief. And they are interested in these social issues and politics: that's why they became reporters in the first place. And what do they see in Republicans? They see people who want to cut up the safety net, privatize Social Security, and make the lot of people like themselves harder. And who benefits? The people at the top of the ladder, who are, of course, the Republican donors. Democrat donors benefit also, but the Democrat party is not out there trying to cut up the social safety net. And so reporters have their own self-interest at stake, and they write what they think. Given the sort of people who become reporters, it is inevitable that the bulk will be on the Left, and that's what they'll write. They're not going to write about rich Democrat donors because the Democrat donors are not trying to cut up the social safety net. Republicans are. And that makes all the difference. And the reporters wouldn't be allowed to insult Saint Warren in any way. Their editors would fire them. And if someone did publish something Saint Warren didn't like, the paper would quickly find that advertising from Saint Warren's empire would suddenly dry up.
