Habersham County, GA Sheriff Joey Terrell and one of his deputies were shot and injured while responding to a domestic violence complaint that involved another officer.
Terrell has been the subject of a number of reports at The Free Thought Project, because he is the law enforcement official who authorized the no knock raid that maimed and nearly killed a young toddler. Terrell then later broke a promise to pay the familys medical bills when he left them to take care of it on their own.
On Sunday, Sheriff Terrell and Deputy William Zigan were dispatched to a domestic disturbance that involved former Gainesville city police officer Anthony Giaquinta. Giaquinta was recently fired from his job at the Gainesville Police Department, but as of now the reason for his termination is unknown.
When police arrived on the scene, they found Giaquintas ex-wife dead in the garage of the home.
The suspect then shot both Terrell and Zigan, then fled the scene and began a search that ended just before midnight, when police found the bodies of two men, including Anthony Giaquinta.
As EMS and law enforcement arrived, he started shooting at Habersham County Sheriffs deputies. Two have been wounded. At this point, it doesnt appear serious, Capt. Mark Perry with the Georgia State Patrol said in a statement.
It has not been revealed who the other person was, and no details about the circumstances of their deaths have been released to the public.
Sheriff Terrell and Deputy William Zigan are expected to make a full recovery from their injuries.
Poster Comment:
With one extra unexplained body, it's clear that the full truth hasn't come out yet.
When the SWAT team hit the home's front door with a battering ram, it resisted as if something was up against it, the sheriff said, so one of the officers threw the flash-bang grenade inside the residence. Once inside the house, the SWAT team realized it was a portable playpen blocking the door, and the flash-bang grenade had landed inside where the 19-month-old was sleeping, the sheriff said.
A playpen with a baby inside was used to block the door during the raid.
I was all excited to read about the good news, and then I discovered the SOB didn't die.

They erroneously state that the officer authorized the no-knock... when anyone that has a single digit IQ knows that a judge signs the warrant that authorizes the entry.
They obviously meant that he gave departmental permission to request a no-knock warrant from a judge, but that is what they should have reported so the "low understanding" crowd could get a clue.
I have zero sympathy for any cop that requests or goes on a no-knock raid in America. IMHO,they deserve anything that happens to them.

Let the family sue the Sheriff so that all information will come out in a court of law so a jury can decide what was right or wrong. That is the American way
No,"The American Way" is you knock on the freaking door and present your warrant.
Things like "no knock warrants" are the Soviet and Nazi Way,not the American Way.

And in YOUR deranged mind that justifies setting a baby on fire?
Nice to know where your priorities lie, comrade.

But you have to remember we have a bunch of low IQ personnel in police forces nowadays who are scared of their own shadows, shoot first and don't even ask questions later.

Then maybe they should be fired and get jobs as unarmed security guards?

Let's face facts, it was an unfortunate incident. There was no INTENT to harm any child.
This child is being used by the pro drug movement like the anti gun movement parades the drooling, slurring Gabrielle Gifford around to propaganda events.
It's actually despicable how low some on this forum sink to shovel their brand of activism.

A Habersham County grand jury has decided not to charge any of the law enforcement officers involved in the botched drug raid that disfigured a toddler.
Nineteen-month-old Bounkham Bou Bou Phonesavanhs nose was detached from his face after a stun grenade landed in his playpen during the raid, carried out by a Habersham SWAT team in May. According to an incident report obtained from the Habersham sheriffs office, deputies were told to anticipate a cache of weapons and armed guards at the home.
A search inside turned up neither guns nor drugs. Wanis Thonetheva, who didnt even live at the house, was arrested later that day without incident and charged only with possession of methamphetamine.

Is grandisland supporting gatlin, or criticizing him?
Neither. I'm putting forth my own opinion.
The whole subject is despicable

Oh, is that what they are calling it nowdays, just an "unfortunate incident"?
A better term would be willful negligence at the least.
They knew a child was in the home, toys were scattered in the yard.
A serf pulling this shit would spend decades behind bars.

A surf doesn't enforce laws and request warrants to be signed by judges. Is this slanted, bias garbage part of your "years and years of posted material" on LP or LF as your researched, scientific research, you were talking about?
Nice spin and propaganda. I'm surprised you don't pay the child's parents to rent the child for a day and parade it around.

The point is, why are the police not held accountable for their actions?
I notice that you ignored the fact that toys were scattered in the yard as the badged thugs began their SWAT raid.
And still you want to claim that this was just an "unfortunate incident".

The so-called "drug dealer" did not even live at the house.
A drug buy was initiated inside the house. The buy informant said there were guards at the door. The police had seen guards at the door during their recon observation. The person making the buy was asked if there were children in the house, he said he had seen none. There were no toys or anything to indicate that children were in the house.
They placed the child sleeping in the playpen blocking to block the door in a three bedroom, two bath house with an attached garage. It is unfortunate the child was hurt....I place the blame on the adults in the house for this.

Exactly!
Any innocent who get killed by over zealous cops acting out Rambo fantasies are written off as victims of circumstance. And the police won't even allocate funds for the baby's medical bills.
The point is, why are the police not held accountable for their actions?
In this case, a grand jury composed of members from the community heard all evidence available and decided there were not charges to be made against the police...THAT IS WHY!!!

Clearly they should have anticipated the police lobbing grenades into the house....?!?!?!
That might not be a bad idea cause they couldn't really do much of anything else with what little training they get, heck a hairdresser gets more training than they do.

A drug buy was initiated inside the house. The buy informant said there were guards at the door.
The informant lied.
An unnamed petty criminal who acted as an informant told Terrells task force that drug commerce had occurred at the targeted residence in Cornelia, and that armed men were acting as guards. However, the stormtroopers found no drugs in the house. The suspect they sought wasnt present when the raiders kicked in the door.
The so-called "dealer" hadn't even lived in the house for weeks.
The person making the buy was asked if there were children in the house, he said he had seen none. There were no toys or anything to indicate that children were in the house.
There were toys scattered all over the yard.
I place the blame on the adults in the house for this.
Yeah, they were the ones who disfigured their child.
Good god man, have you no shame?

Everyone else has asserted that toys were scattered all over the yard, yet you with your cop worshiping sickness believe their story.
In May, the Habersham County Special Response Team executed a no-knock drug raid on the home of a family friend where Baby Bou Bou, his parents, and sisters were staying. It was the middle of the night, and even though the family's minivan was parked in the driveway and children's toys were in the yard, a squad of SWAT officers decided to throw a flashbang grenade into the living room.
I guess you cant expect cops to notice something like that in the middle of a late-night drug raid. Besides, they could have been decoys.

Maybe they thought they were Claymores??

Actually, GHBush laid the planning and budget for the later operations that were carried out by the next presidency; this is why you don't see any "change" within any administration with the the complete singular exception that there is never any change.
American government may identify an issue but, it kicks the can down the road.
may be wrong, but Gatlin may have even broken a couple of condoms during that thread...bwaahaa...

My guess is their lawyers are expecting an inevitable lawsuit and that they will end up paying anyway.
I doubt you could get any of them to even discuss it again, prior to the resolution of the lawsuit. Any lawyer would salivate over this case. It's a sure-winner with any jury anywhere in the country.
