I went to the Daytona 500 about ten years ago with some local friends, just to say I've been there, done that. It was a fun little vacation. For a thin 10.00 bill, I got one blind draw by pole number. I drew 29. Ended up being Kyle Larson. I might as well kiss my ten spot away. If he wins, I get 180.00 I was last at Daytona in 2005. Gordon (my driver) won. I was going to make it a yearly trip... but after I bought my airline tickets for the 2006 Daytona, my father was diagnosed with leukemia, 26 days before the race. I stayed with my pops for all 26 days in that hospital... and he passed away during the race, 26 days later. I never went back. Every society gets the kind of criminal it deserves. The secret is to collect your winnings when the tavern is slow, otherwise everyone wants you to buy them a free drink with their losses.
