State Department Spokesperson Marie Harf told Chris Matthews tonight that we cannot win this war with ISIS by killing them. She said we have to get to the root cause of why people are attracted to Jihad — you know like poverty, jobs, etc… “We’re killing a lot of them and we’re going to keep killing more of them. So are the Egyptians, so are the Jordanians. They’re in this fight with us. But we cannot win this war by killing them. We cannot kill our way out of this war. We need in the medium to longer term to go after the root causes that leads people to join these groups, whether it’s lack of opportunity for jobs…” Watch: MATTHEWS: How do we stop this? I don’t see it. I see the Shia militias coming out of Baghdad who are all Shia. The Sunnis hate them. The Sunnis are loyal to ISIS rather than going in with the Shia. You’ve got the Kurds, the Jordanian air force and now the Egyptian air force. But i don’t see any — If i were ISIS, I wouldn’t be afraid right now. I can figure there is no existential threat to these people. They can keep finding places where they can hold executions and putting the camera work together, getting their props ready and killing people for show. And nothing we do right now seems to be directed at stopping this. HARF: Well, I think there’s a few stages here. Right now what we’re doing is trying to take their leaders and their fighters off the battlefield in Iraq and Syria. That’s really where they flourish. MATTHEWS: Are we killing enough of them? HARF: We’re killing a lot of them and we’re going to keep killing more of them. So are the Egyptians, so are the Jordanians. They’re in this fight with us. But we cannot win this war by killing them. We cannot kill our way out of this war. We need in the medium to longer term to go after the root causes that leads people to join these groups, whether it’s lack of opportunity for jobs, whether — MATTHEWS: We’re not going to be able to stop that in our lifetime or fifty lifetimes. There’s always going to be poor people. There’s always going to be poor muslims, and as long as there are poor Muslims, the trumpet’s blowing and they’ll join. We can’t stop that, can we? HARF: We can work with countries around the world to help improve their governance. We can help them build their economies so they can have job opportunities for these people… (If you are just reading the transcript, the clip goes on further in this direction.) I must say that this administration offering to help other countries with their economies is laughable on its face! But I digress. Good for Matthews for pushing back on this jobs and poverty nonsense. He at least gets it partially, in that we are never going to solve that problem. But that’s not the problem. It’s Islam. Jihadism is Islam and to hear this administration spouting this ‘we can’t win this war by killing them’ nonsense just reveals why we will never be successful at winning this war. Killing the Islamo-Nazis is the only way to bring peace to the Middle East and to the greater world. And until this administration and the rest of the world gets it, Islamo-Nazis will keep slaughtering the innocent and keep recruiting like wildfire.

You can, if you kill enough of the sons of bitches and let them know they are next. This world love-in business dosn't work. Feeding them only makes them stronger and more confident.
Putin defeated the Chechens (though there are still small bands left) by killing and co-opting. The guy Putin placed in charge of Chechnya used to be a rebel war lord now a loyalist. That was the Iraqi Sunni spring or whatever it was called during Bush's era where we bribed the Sunnis to turn on al-Qaeda.
So now our State Dept. wants to focus on job creation in the Middle East. Incredible.
We used to be a land where we gave up our lives to protect our freedom. Now we give up our freedom to protect our lives.
I saw this twit on F&F this morning. Simply unbelievable. She is definitely a product of modern education.

------------------------------------- Modern education, and modern media, and modern entertainment. We have been peoducing millions of them through a system of social censorship and brainwashing each year. It has come to the point where anything else is alien to them and an extremist hate crime.
Amerika needs cheap labour for our International conglomerates around the world. You don't expect the WH to seriously voice an opinion about job creation here in Amerika do you?
The solution is to expand Obama amnesty to include ISIS freedom fighters. Get them to Mexico and across the Rio Grande and give them a work permit, food stamps, free health care, an Obamaphone, a driver's license, and income tax credits. As Yacov Smirnoff would say, "America, what a country!"
Yes there are "shovel ready" jobs here in the US for ISIS. Give them a job building a wall on our southern border.

You wanna bet on that? It works for islam. The first thing they have done for fourteen hundred years is slaughter opposing thought. Islam now controls two billion adherents. If it weren't for Charles Martel and the King of Poland breaking the siege of Vienna in 1683 they'd contol all of Europe. It works for me.

But in their religiously petrified minds, being killed for the cause is martyrdom and a ticket to virgin paradise.
For probably the wrong reasons - she's correct. You can't kill an ideology with force.
