Bible Study Title: Do not give up! Do not surrender! Luke 23:39-43 Monday, February 9, 2015 Do not give up! Do not surrender! Luke 23:39-43 In this day of instant gratification, of ignorance of God, God's Word, God's word and current events, it is all to easy for churches that preach what God said and not what some know He meant to say to give up, to surrender, to cut the number of services, the length of the sermon, the length of the service, and turn away from the KJV to such heresies as the NIV. To Them, to their pastors, board of elders, trusties and congregation, I say don't give up, don't surrender, add services, return to the KJV. Pastors, churches, you are the sowers of God's word. How can you sow when the doors are closed, locked and the building is empty? 4 And when much people were gathered together, and were come to Him (Jesus) out of every city, He (Jesus) spake by a parable: 5 A sower went out to sow his seed: and as he sowed, some fell by the way side; and it was trodden down, and the fowls of the air devoured it. 6 And some fell upon a rock; and as soon as it was sprung up, it withered away, because it lacked moisture. 7 And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprang up with it, and choked it. 8 And other fell on good ground, and sprang up, and bare fruit an hundredfold. And when He had said these things, He cried, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear. Pastor, Elders, Trustees, Congregation, do you have ears to hear? Do you understand that your job is to sow the word of God? Read on: 9 And His (Jesus) disciples asked Him, saying, "What might this parable be?" 10 And He said, Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but to others in parables; that seeing they might not see, and hearing they might not understand. 11 Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God. 12 Those by the way side are they that hear; then cometh the devil, and taketh away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved. 13 They on the rock are they, which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away. 14 And that which fell among thorns are they, which, when they have heard, go forth, and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection. 15 But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience. 16 No man, when he hath lighted a candle, covereth it with a vessel, or putteth it under a bed; but setteth it on a candlestick, that they which enter in may see the light. 17 For nothing is secret, that shall not be made manifest; neither any thing hid, that shall not be known and come abroad. 18 Take heed therefore how ye hear: for whosoever hath, to him shall be given; and whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he seemeth to have. How can you So when you are closed? How can you look Christ in the face and tell Him that you went to one service because He wasn't sending enough people to make it worth your while to be open? That you left the KJV and went to some liberal translation because He wasn't opening their eyes to the language of the KJV and you as, pastor were not willing to waste your valuable time by helping them to understand, for after all, that's not your job, but the job of the Holy Spirit. Let us now look at a man who did not quit, did not surrender, and then I am going to tell yu what he didn't quit from what pain he did not surrender to. 32 And there were also two others, malefactors, led with Him to be put to death. 33 And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified Him and the malefactors. One on the right hand, and the other on the left. 34 Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted His raiment, and cast lots. 35 And the people stood beholding. And the rulers also with them derided Him, saying, "He saved others; let Him save Himself, if He be Christ, the chosen of God." 36 And the soldiers also mocked Him, coming to Him, and offering Him vinegar, 37 and saying, "If Thou be the king of the Jews, save Thyself." 38 And a superscription also was written over Him in letters of Greek, and Latin, and Hebrew, THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS. 39 And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on Him(Jesus), saying, "If Thou be Christ, save Thyself and us." 40 But the other answering rebuked him, saying, "Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation? 41 And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this Man hath done nothing amiss." ... I like George Patton's straightforward advice a bit better. "We'll cut their guts out and use them to grease the treads on our tanks."
cut whose guts out?
cut whose guts out? In that particular case he was referring to Hitler's army. But, it applies equally well to anyone who screws with us.

Let me ponder that for a bit. But let me say this, if I were president, this would be flying over the White House. And Snipers would be extremely busy.
