Near the conclusion of Super Bowl XLIX when it was apparent the New England Patriots would be the victor after a late interception thrown by Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson, Seahawks linebacker Bruce Irvin instigated a brawl that got him ejected from the game with 0:18 left in the game.
Michael Bennett, a defensive end for the Seahawks, also took a shot at Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski.
"Gronkowski takes a shot from Bennett, who I'm sure is frustrated and Gronkowski throws one back," NBC sports commentator Cris Collinsworth observed.
"You know, for Seattle's standpoint, whatever. But from New England's standpoint you are 0:18 away from a Super Bowl championship. You don't throw a punch at anyone here," Collinsworth said.
"Every once in a while in the NFL you think you've seen it all," Collinsworth joked.
"Nope, you haven't," broadcasting partner Al Michaels said.
"I will never get over it, throwing the ball in that situation," Collinsworth said of what will likely be a highly ridiculed call by Seattle in what was their last offensive play.
Super Bowl XLIX was broadcasted on NBC and held at the University of Phoenix Stadium, Glendale, Arizona.
