The Ukrainian ambassador to the UN told Fox News he plans to submit a draft resolution asking the UN General Assembly to formally label “Russia as a sponsor of terrorism." Ambassador Yuriy Sergeyev gave no timetable for when he would present the resolution to the UN. He said government officials in Kiev are working on the text. Sergeyev told Fox News the resolution will mirror the Ukrainian parliament’s declaration this week, designating the Moscow-backed separatists in East Ukraine as a terrorist group. Kiev believes that by defining the separatists as terrorists it eliminates any notion that it would engage in peace talks with them. Sergeyev warned of a “huge war” if the separatists take more territory or build a corridor to southern Ukraine’s Crimean Peninsula, which Russia annexed almost a year ago. Ukraine and the West accuse Russia of backing the rebels with troops and weapons, which Russia denies. Meanwhile, artillery fire killed at least 12 civilians in the main rebel stronghold of Donetsk on Friday amid fierce fighting between pro-Russia separatists and government troops as hopes for a break in hostilities were dashed when an attempt to call a new round of peace talks failed. Five people were killed as they were waiting for humanitarian aid outside a community center and two people were killed in the same neighborhood when a mortar shell landed near a bus stop. By the time an Associated Press journalist arrived at the community center, the bodies were taken away. Nearby trees were cut down by what could have been a projectile. Five other people died Friday in sporadic artillery fire in the west of Donetsk. Full-blown fighting between the Russian-backed separatists and government forces erupted anew earlier this month following a period of relative tranquility. The USA asked for a BIG issue.

Nothing but veto-bait for Russia in the Security Council. You can't seriously bring any charge against the permanent members of the Security Council because they'll only veto it immediately. I saw a dozen Uke soldiers got killed today. The rebels are claiming they took a new city (or installation) whose name I didn't recognize. Kiev hotly denied that it (whatever it was) had fallen. If only Marguerite had migrated over here from LP, she would know.
My opinion is very simple on this international crisis: the USA inflamed the situation with European ally support with the removal of Yanukovich. American and EU taxpayers are going to pay for this international blunder concerning foreign policy.
Actually, the Poles/Brits/Germans came up with a plan for Yanukovych to serve out his term but do no more to alter the constitution and fundamental laws of Ukraine. Yanukovych and the other major players had all agreed to it. It appears that Nuland at State and the inept Ukrainian ambassador cooked up this coup. As a result, public confidence in elections in Ukraine has been undermined completely and led directly to this low-grade civil war in the east. Elections are supposed to have consequences. If you stage a coup, you simply undermine any public confidence that voting can ever change anything. The EUros did, however, follow our leads after we staged the coup at Maidan. So they are craven lackeys as they have often proved in other situations.

This is what drives me crazy about the reporting from Ukraine. You never get hard facts about much of anything. The AP reporter missed all the action but asserts "nearby trees" were cut down by something. A projectile? A chain saw? An angry beaver or two? It's not just this piece that is light on facts. It's 95% of them. Very annoying, considering it is a far less hostile place for reporters than Syria or some other Mideast hellholes.
