BAKERSFIELD — Elementary school children are now being pressured to obediently offer their support for the police state. Like Martin Luther King Jr. Day, cops are trying to start their own new holiday called “Law Enforcement Appreciation Day,” as if they are an oppressed group who struggle to overcome tyranny. Worse, impressionable children were instructed to celebrate it. The Fresno People’s Media notes that the day “isn’t actually a holiday at all, but rather a political stunt sponsored by the Fraternal Order of Police.” Aimee Williamson is a wife of the Bakersfield Police Chief. She is also the principal of North Beardsley Elementary School. Aimee took it upon herself to send an email to teachers at the school asking them to celebrate the artificial holiday, according to reports. Imagine that you entrust your child to the care of strangers for about six hours a day. How would you feel if these strangers took it upon themselves to install various political programming into your child’s fragile mind? How would you feel if you found out that these strangers are essentially brainwashing your child to become a domesticated police-worshiping slave? One of the teachers at the school, after receiving the email, instructed children to “write a letter” to the Bakersfield Police department and “thank them” for “arresting the bad guys and keeping the city safe.” The children were also instructed to dress in blue clothes — as if they are now to wear uniforms — register their loyal support for police on January 9th, according to reports. When parents found out about what was happening, they became upset, according to reports. One child, whose father was killed in Bakersfield police custody, was reported to have stayed home from school, ruining his otherwise perfect attendance record. North Beardsley Elementary School has so far declined to comment about the incident, according to reports. There's more drama written into this article than a 60 minute Kardashian episod. I'm sure the kids were asked to wear blue as a suggestion. Those that didn't, were not pointed out. Hardly defines "instructed" or "uniforms" The author sounds like a Spanish student who feels they should make a stink out of USA shirts worn during a "Spanish" holiday. The hipocracy
Kids are supposed to be going to school for an education, not to be indoctrinated and coerced into becoming sheep.
When I was in third Grade. They had some police officers come talk to us. We got little stickers that were police badges. At recess we played cops and robbers. We pointed our fingers at each other and said bang. Maybe even used some sticks as guns. There is nothing wrong with the police coming out for a day. Or the firemen. Or the doctor. That is just teaching them about different things. Unless you can show me where the indoctrination is in this case I will agree that government schools indoctrinate children. I don't know if this is the case or not.
Thanks to zero tolerance in the schools, if you did that nowdays, you'd be expelled from school and possibly be charged with making "terroristic" threats.
This is a whole different topic. That's called the "pussification" of society... by liberal society. Maybe the Free Thought Project has a few cool articles on how weak, pathetic and dysfunctional your peers have become?
I don't have any peers who are cops.
You do realize that when you defend your activist agenda, with personal attacks and one dimensional thinking (like the police are the root of all society problems)... you lose credibility. You say some strange, off the wall things. I'm not sure what the cause is. Agenda, anger or ignorance?
They are merely a symptom of the loss of freedom. You know, maybe if cops didn't have the "us versus them" mentality, we'd all be better off. Maybe if they actually would "protect and serve" rather than "harass and assault". Maybe if their first priority wasn't "getting home safe" at the end of the day.
