Ben Carson holds up ISIS as an example for U.S. By Alexandra Jaffe, CNN Updated 7:29 PM ET, Thu January 15, 2015 (CNN)Physician Ben Carson on Thursday held up ISIS, a terrorist group that's beheaded multiple Americans, as an example for the United States during comments before the Republican National Committee. "We've got ISIS. They've got the wrong philosophy, but they're willing to die for what they believe, while we are busily giving away every belief and every value for the sake of political correctness," he said during his speech at the RNC's winter meeting. "We have to change that." Carson acknowledged his comments were likely to spark controversy and gain headlines, but he preemptively dismissed the press attention. "They are just so ridiculous," he said, to laughter from the crowd. The remarks are similar to ones he made previously, likening the United States government to Nazi Germany in that both, he argued, worked to silence their opponents. Carson stood by those comments when pressed in an interview with CNN's Wolf Blitzer. It's that very penchant — for frank and often controversial comments — that has made him so popular with the GOP base, and turned the retired neurosurgeon into a rising conservative star who just last month polled third in a CNN/ORC survey of the potential GOP presidential field. He's made no secret of his interest in the race, and recently said he "feel[s] fingers" from God to run. Many within the establishment wing of the party remain wary of him, however, because of his talent for the very remarks that make him so popular with the far right. He also started a firestorm of criticism over comments he made that Obamacare was the "worst thing" to happen to the U.S. since slavery. But his appearance at the RNC's winter meeting, alongside the likes of Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker and 2012 GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney, suggest that Carson's popularity on the right has earned him some notice from the establishment as the party charts its course heading into 2016.

Same here. Carson is a VERY bright guy,but the media has a history of promoting very bright unknown conservatives as potential candidates early in the game as a way to keep better known and established conservative candidates from throwing their hats in the ring,and then exposing their character flaws when it is too late for any new candidates to jump in the ring. Carson seems too good to be true,so I am going to be cautious about getting too excited about him too early.
Why is democracy held in such high esteem when it’s the enemy of the minority and makes all rights relative to the dictates of the majority? (Ron Paul,2012)
Carson is just luke warm. If you want to keep your gun beware of him. He thinks depending on where you are you get the keep your second amendment rights or you don't. He thinks that the constitution applies differently to you depending on where you live. A real dopey view. He is crossed off. The only reason they promote him is because he is black. They want to have a black guy so they can say we are not racists. No they aren't racists but some on the left like making that charge.
That is the current prime reason I am suspicious of him. Specifically,he doesn't think that people who don't live in rural areas should be "allowed" to own rifles. Or at least that is what has been reported. The only reason they promote him is because he is black. A conservative black candidate is always seen as a Messiah by the Republican base,and a demon by the Dims. Face it,the biggest fear the Dims have is of the blacks leaving the Dim Plantation. The Barry Obomber presidency has done some serious damage to the possibility another black president in the next 20-30 years,if not killed it outright. Personally,it think Obomber has been the antidote of white guilt. He's killed that particular disease.
