This is how ancient Rome deteriorated. Over time Caesars acted in a more imperial manner, usurping the power of the Senate and concentrating power in an imperial executive.
In Rome's case, it was control of the military that enabled the seizing of power. In modern America, it is the support of the media, their lack of reporting, their enabling of lies by letting them pass that is the equivalent of the the oppressive power of Roman legions. The media are the jackboots who are supporting the overthrow of our system as they believe they are the enlightened who know what is best fo the ignorant masses.
Let us hope that this stunning action by Obama awakens the American people and cause them to demand restoration of our system of checks and balances.
