International News Title: Fred Thompson Links Harry Reid To 9/11 Conspiracy Theorists In his latest ABC News podcast, former senator Fred Thompson suggests that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) criticized outgoing Joint Chiefs Chairman Gen. Peter Pace last week to appeal to fringe anti-American elements who think the 9/11 attacks were an inside job. Reid made his statement about General Pace on a conference call with fringe elements of the blogosphere who think were the bad guys, Thompson says. Whether he means to or not, hes encouraging our enemies to believe that they are winning the critical war of will. Thompson also compares 9/11 conspiracy theories to claims that the war in Iraq was a sinister Republican plot. He says, Reid has led the attack on the administration, with Nancy Pelosi, charging it lied and tricked America into supporting the war. Thompson claims that multiple hearings and investigations into pre-war intelligence findings have debunked this paranoid myth. CLICK HERE TO LISTEN Thompsons attempt to link Reid to conspiracy theorists is completely baseless. Thompson also gets his facts wrong. In fact, multiple hearings and investigations have conclusively shown that intelligence was manipulated to send this country into war. Among many examples: The Pentagons inspector general found that former Undersecretary of Defense Doug Feith developed, produced, and disseminated alternative intelligence assessments to falsely claim that a relationship existed between Iraq and al Qaeda. The White House set up intelligence stovepipes to get information they wanted directly to the top leadership. Vice President Cheney and company relied on information provided by the Iraqi National Congress, an exile group headed by Ahmad Chalabi. Chalabis defector reports were
flowing from the Pentagon directly to the Vice-Presidents office, and then on to the President, with little prior evaluation by intelligence professionals. State Dept. intelligence expert Greg Thielmann said that prior to the Iraq war that garbage was being shoved straight to the President. UPDATE: Bob Geiger, one of the bloggers on Reids conference call, responds to Thompson HERE. Digg It! Transcript: Well, youve heard by now that Senate leader Harry Reid insulted one of this countrys brightest military minds, Marine Corps General Peter Pace calling him incompetent. Let me take a few moments to put this in context. First, Harry Reid voted for the war, like a majority of our legislators. America decided as a nation to free Iraq and the region from Saddam Husseins tyranny. I have friends, both Democrat and Republican, who questioned the decision at the time, but the Republic made a commitment based on constitutional and democratic procedures. So they are now a hundred percent committed to moving forward in a way thats best for our country. None of them, by the way, believe surrendering to the forces of terror in Iraq is whats best for our country. Harry Reid, though, has taken a different route. He made his statement about General Pace on a conference call with fringe elements of the blogosphere who think were the bad guys. This is a place where even those who think the 9/11 attacks were an inside job find a home. And why shouldnt they think that? Reid has led the attack on the administration, with Nancy Pelosi, charging it lied and tricked America into supporting the war. Ignoring multiple hearings and investigations into pre-war intelligence findings that have debunked this paranoid myth, they accuse an entire administration of conspiracy to trick us into a war. I suppose thats easier for some than admitting that theyve flip flopped but the fact that Reid says this sinister Republican plot is going to help him elect more Democrats ought to be raising a few flags. Saying General Pace is incompetent doesnt even rank near the top of his bizarre statements. How could anyone possibly believe, as Reid charges, that our commanding general in Iraq, David Petraeus, is out of touch with whats going on. Surely someone in Reids position would know that Petraeus is briefed daily on all aspects of Iraq from civil to military. Surely he has to know that Petraeus is a true warrior scholar who literally wrote the Armys book on counterinsurgency warfare. But Reids comments are not meant for logical analysis. He proclaimed the war lost some time ago, and the surge as a failure even before the additional troops were on the ground. The problem is that every one of Reids comments Ive noted here has also been reported gleefully by Al Jazeera and other anti-American media. Whether he means to or not, hes encouraging our enemies to believe that they are winning the critical war of will.

Reid's a TRAITOR to America...typical RAT.
"Devolve Power Outta the Federal Leviathan and Back to the States, You probably think I am too. But Bush is the real enemy. He has the power and the will to harm this country. He has done it repeatedly.
Nope, I don't think yer a traitor, just confused. Reid knows that he is undermining the mission and emboldening our enemies with his words, he's a full- blown traitor...MUD
"Devolve Power Outta the Federal Leviathan and Back to the States, Yer a witless dreamer...MUD
