Looks like the Rangers have narrowed their managerial search down to 3 candidates, Bogar, Indians bullpen coach Kevin Cash and Pirates bench coach Jeff Banister.

Hope it's Bogar. He had a winning record in the last few weeks of a throw away season. Hard to do when the chips are down.

Well they hired Jeff Banister instead, don't know if I like that or not.

Wonder if they will keep Bogar or not?

We shall see. One article said they really wanted the Pirates skipper Hundley and would go for the 'next best thing.' Well if he can get these guys swinging the bat again, I'm all for it.

Also looks like they're trying to resign Colby Lewis too.

All good news. However disappointed about Koozie. But reality is he will still need a few months into the next season to recover.

Looks like Bogar isn't going to be on the team this year, they offered him a position with the team but not on the bench. I would have rather seen Bogar as the manager and Bannister as his bench coach.

Disappointed to see Bogar go. Guess he figured or someone in the front office figured having him sit in the same dugout he managed from for a short time might cut into Bannisters plan.

Looks like he ended up with the Angels, can't say I'm happy about this whole situation.

Also looks like they are bringing in Michael Young as a special assistant.

It appears the Texas Rangers have jumped back into the market for international free agents.

According to unconfirmed reports emanating from Korea Sunday, the Rangers submitted the highest bid for 26-year-old left-hander Hyeon-jong Yang, who was posted by the Kia Tigers recently.

While Rangers GM Jon Daniels declined to comment, a source indicated the Rangers were optimistic about their bid. Earlier in the weekend, however, the St. Paul Pioneer-Press, citing unnamed sources, reported that Minnesota had submitted the highest bid.

Ultimately, the highest bid would only matter if the Tigers accept it, which would then give the “winning” team a 30-day exclusive negotiating window with the pitcher. It is the same process by which the Rangers acquired Yu Darvish after the 2011 season.

Korea has become a more intense focus for clubs since the Los Angeles Dodgers landed Hyun-jin Ryu in 2012. The Dodgers paid $25.7 million to the Hanwha Eagles to win the negotiating rights for Ryu then gave him a six-year, $36 million contract. The bid – and the contract – for Yang are accepted to be significantly less.

Yang went 16-8 with a 4.25 ERA, well-below the league average in the hitter-friendly Korean League. He reportedly carries a fastball in the 92-95 mph range. In the Pioneer-Press report about Yang and the Twins, a source suggested he could be a middle-of-the-rotation starter.

Looks like they have decided Holland is gonna be their #2 pitcher so they may have found a #3 (until Perez comes back) or 4 pitcher for the rotation.

Doesn't look like they plan on signing one of the bigger name pitchers but do pitching by committee.

Since Ogando isn't pitching competitively yet you gotta wonder if they have decided if/when he does he will be in the pen.
