For those of you who would like to comment on what might happen with the 2015 version of the Texas Rangers or any other MLB team for that matter.

Looks like the Rangers have narrowed their managerial search down to 3 candidates, Bogar, Indians bullpen coach Kevin Cash and Pirates bench coach Jeff Banister.

Hope it's Bogar. He had a winning record in the last few weeks of a throw away season. Hard to do when the chips are down.

But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name (John 1:12)

The Reds best pitcher.

You should have went with us when we went to the Cincy game back in August and watched him pitch. (You could have pigged out on $1 hotdogs).

The Rangers are gonna steal your catcher too! :)

I've never known you to be one to stand on formality. :)

Ok fine, the next time we go you're invited. How about a Blue Jackets game? Invite Jameson too since he lives there.

We should have went tonight since the Stars are in town and I would have liked to see their new second line of Cole/Spezza/Hemsky in person. Oh well am settling for watching them on Fox Sports Ohio, Stars up 2 - Zip.

Correction Stars 2 Blue Jackets 1.

It appears the Texas Rangers have jumped back into the market for international free agents.

Related Report: Rangers open to trading big-time prospects, have spoken to Braves about Justin Upton Rangers announce spring training report dates Rangers set 40-man roster, include four first-time players

According to unconfirmed reports emanating from Korea Sunday, the Rangers submitted the highest bid for 26-year-old left-hander Hyeon-jong Yang, who was posted by the Kia Tigers recently.

While Rangers GM Jon Daniels declined to comment, a source indicated the Rangers were optimistic about their bid. Earlier in the weekend, however, the St. Paul Pioneer-Press, citing unnamed sources, reported that Minnesota had submitted the highest bid.

Ultimately, the highest bid would only matter if the Tigers accept it, which would then give the “winning” team a 30-day exclusive negotiating window with the pitcher. It is the same process by which the Rangers acquired Yu Darvish after the 2011 season.

Korea has become a more intense focus for clubs since the Los Angeles Dodgers landed Hyun-jin Ryu in 2012. The Dodgers paid $25.7 million to the Hanwha Eagles to win the negotiating rights for Ryu then gave him a six-year, $36 million contract. The bid – and the contract – for Yang are accepted to be significantly less.

Yang went 16-8 with a 4.25 ERA, well-below the league average in the hitter-friendly Korean League. He reportedly carries a fastball in the 92-95 mph range. In the Pioneer-Press report about Yang and the Twins, a source suggested he could be a middle-of-the-rotation starter.

Looks like they have decided Holland is gonna be their #2 pitcher so they may have found a #3 (until Perez comes back) or 4 pitcher for the rotation.

Doesn't look like they plan on signing one of the bigger name pitchers but do pitching by committee.

Since Ogando isn't pitching competitively yet you gotta wonder if they have decided if/when he does he will be in the pen.

Looks like they picked up a starting pitcher Gallardo for the 3 slot and a reliever German to take Cotts place since they didn't resign him.

Also noticed they picked up Detwiler about a week or so ago hoping he can get back to being a starter. Looks like they are almost Overstocking the pitching staff, can't have too many pitchers I guess.

Good moves that fit the budget. They are betting on those who were not healthy last year being healthy. Not a sure thing in any sport:) Sure someone can tough out 17 weeks or so in the NFL, but injuries in the NBA and MLB with so many months of play significantly impact a team. Especially in the MLB with pitchers. It is a specialized position requiring movement and endurance every half inning.

Plus Gallardo has pop in his bat. Will be interesting to see a pitcher for the Rangers hit a dinger:)

I think Daniels knows that finding the right pieces to be a contender costs money and or prospects. The farm is 2-3 years away from paying off so why "sell the farm" more for questionable long term salary deals? Read...Fielder.

It seems the MLB market is going towards "good enough." Meaning, get some pieces that have a reasonable promise of performance and hope the pieces gel into a team which can string enough series wins to be a contender in September. Then September baseball is all about who is hot at the time and who is still healthy. Then hope in the playoffs your top 3 rotation pitchers are healthy and can go deep.

The Rangers go in with Darvish and Holland as the top 2. They hope the new guy will fit in number 3 and between Lewis and later Harrison come around to provide innings as #4. 5 slot is a toss up until Perez comes back.

So Daniels did his best IMO with the dough he had and not selling the farm.

Maybe now Nick Martinez and others can get experience down in Round Rock and not be subject to the pressure of MLB pitching.

Hey if Harry comes back strong, and Lewis is tough this could be a good year.

Colby got better as the season went on and he's had a full off season to get into better shape so I would have to assume he will be better than last year.

Harrison is already throwing but they don't expect him to be ready before June, if ever. Heard he is working out with Colby to get some tips and encouragement. If he comes back he will be the first to come back from spinal fusion in MLB just like Colby was with his hip job.

I've also heard Profar is throwing with no setbacks thus far. I have no doubt he will start the year in AAA just to get him some games under his belt instead of having him platoon.

Pretty much confirms what I was thinking. They have a solid #1-3 for the rotation and 4&5 is a ? If Lewis can hold down that fourth anchor leg of the rotation then we are competitive. Of course if everyone stays healthy and avoids playing with large dogs near stairs.

They seem to have quite a selection for a #5 pitcher with Detwiler, Ranaudo, Tepesch, Martinez and Lisalverto Bonilla. (Maybe Jackson or Gonzalez but they would be long shots).

They're were going to give Detwiler a chance to start but since they just traded Ross for Renaudo I wouldn't be afraid to say they will end up with him in the pen since he's a lefty. On the other hand if he dazzles in Spring training as a starter then I look for them to try to acquire one or maybe they think Claudio is ready?
