I am sorry to have to tell you all that Rowdee from the early FR days has passed away. I believe she posted here,on Liberty Flame,and was still posting on FR occasionally. I received an email from her daughter 2 nights ago to tell me that she had died on the 3rd of May while getting treatment in a hospital,and with her brother sitting by her bed. She and I became casual email friends right after I joined FR,and despite the fact that we never met,knew each others names,or even agreed politically on every issue,we remained friends all these years.
She was the type of person that is rare today. She didn't demand everybody agree with her on every minute detail,and if she did disagree she would calmly ask you to explain your position.
About all I really knew about her other than she was a very nice woman is that she lived in a rural area in the west,and was a widow with adult children living in other states.
She told me a little over a year ago that she was dying from COPD,and probably didn't have long. She also asked me to keep it to myself.
She had been getting sick before that,which is why she quit posting and just started occasionally reading posts. She liked the music threads I used to post a lot,and music was one of the things we discussed in private emails. Come to think of it,we discussed pretty much everything in these emails BUT politics. I guess we both enjoyed the break.
What I did know about her is that she was a kind and loving woman with a good sense of self as well as a good sense of humor and a fine mind. She was also fiercely independent. She really had her priorities in order when it came to what was important to her in life and what was fluff.
I really am going to miss hearing from her.
