To: buckeroo, Don (#0) Actually Texas is not a mess to respond to disasters. We do it quite often. West TX and Hurricane Rita come to mind as well as Katrina in the Gulf areas. Texas responded well. The locals pull together. When West TX had the fertilizer plant explosion local emergency response was well managed. Hundreds of local churches opened their doors for the homeless, fed hundreds, provided clothing and even work. To: buckeroo (#20) Guns, ammo, food, battery operated emergency gear, 12 baseball bats with 5 wood which can be converted to mace configuration with some nails. One neighbor has a generator and another sandbags and concertina wire. Fishing and archery gear, tents and various camping gear. Oh and a hose to siphon gas or diesel.
