This weekend, the Obama Administration proclaimed that a historic “deal” was reached with the mad mullahs of Tehran. A breakthrough in their nuclear program, one that would ease sanctions and restrictions, while keeping them “away” from nuclear weapons. The joke is on us because nothing changes. But in the meantime, Obama could have secured the release of American Pastor Saeed Abedini, and possibly others, imprisoned in Iran for his Christian faith. If he cared, he could have made the release of Abedini as part of the terms for the “nuclear agreement” with Iran. But Obama abandons Americans at every turn. If Abedini had been an American Muslim imprisoned in Iran, he would be a free man right now. In case there is any doubt, the Obama Administration does not care about imprisoned Christians in Iran. They had no intention of securing Pastor Saeed Abedini from the horrific prison he was moved to. In Iran, the punishment for apostasy is death. This is the letter of Islamic law. Kill the infidel and apostates. The American Center for Law and Justice says the Obama administration should never have struck a deal with Iran without part of the terms being the release of imprisoned pastor Saeed Abedini and other Americans being held in Iranian prisons. ACLJ Chief Counsel Jay Sekulow says basically, President Barack Obama and Secretary of John Kerry turned their back on their fellow Americans. President Barack Hussein Obama has one legacy and that is he abandons Americans. He let four men die in Benghazi and he also allowed Army Ranger 1st Lieutenant Michael Behenna to receive a 25 year sentence for killing a known terrorist, as reported by Pamela Gellar. This is a President who would save a terrorist over American lives. He arms Al-Qaeda rebels in Syria without hesitation, props up the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, and hands over $1.6 billion in aid to Pakistan’s Taliban. What more can Americans expect from an Islamic President? Nothing. We get what we pay for. With Department of Homeland Security crawling with Muslim Brotherhood backers, Obama’s Administration has done more to curb the freedom’s of American Christians, namely military personnel, than anyone before him. He is openly hostile to Christians and Jews. He rewards sexual deviants and abortionists with medals of freedom, but won’t save an imprisoned Christian pastor. “It is outrageous and a betrayal of American Pastor Saeed Abedini who has spent more than a year in an Iranian prison simply because of his Christian faith,” Sekulow said following word of a deal with the Islamic Republic of Iran over its nuclear program and world sanctions against it. “The Obama Administration has left Pastor Saeed behind. And by failing to secure his release as a precondition to any negotiations, the Obama Administration sends a troubling message to the Iranian government that Americans are expendable,” Sekulow concluded. Saeed is serving an 8-year sentence despite international efforts and numerous petitions headed by the ACLJ seeking his release. Obama raised the issue of the pastor’s detention during his first phone conversation with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani on Sept. 27. Obama was paying lip service to those who begged for his Administration to secure the release of the American pastor. And knowing that Valerie Jarrett had been conducting secret talks with the Iranian regime for the past year, before the “breakthrough” Geneva deal was struck, suggests a sinister operation at hand. If Obama would punish an American soldier for killing a terrorist, he would surely allow an Iranian-American pastor to die a horrific death in an Iranian prison. The ACLJ has been working on a world-wide campaign for the release of Pastor Saeed who has been in prison for more than a year now simply for his faith in Jesus Christ. Saeed was in Iran to help open an orphanage when he was arrested, tried and sentenced to eight years in prison. He was recently moved from the nortoriously bad Evin Prison to the even harsher Rajai Shahr Prison. It is known for brutal murders and unexplained deaths. Iran sends prisoners there to put them out of sight of human rights organizations and the media. Knowing Pastor Saeed was transferred to the most dangerous of Iranian prisons, the Administration could have worked to secure his release. The man did nothing wrong except express his Christian faith. And our “Christian” President will leave him there to die, just like he has abandoned so many others before him. The only saving Pastor Saeed is perhaps congressional support and appeals and also online campaigning on BeHeardProject.com. With Senator Ted Cruz and others praying for the pastor’s release not long ago, it is known that many people in positions of authority are aware of his plight. But if left to Obama, he will never be released. He will die a martyr. Naghmeh Abedini, Saeed’s wife, has spoke before Congress, the United Nations and to national and international media with hope of helping see her husband freed. She says God is using the situation to further the gospel through Saeed in the prisons – and through her in every speech she has made. At this moment, Pastor Saeed’s situation looks bleak. By some miracle, it is possible that he could be released. But that miracle will have to completely bypass President Obama. He’s the adversary.
