Boston Legal Click here to play the video. Alan: Last night, I went to bed with a book. Not as much fun as a 29 year old, but the book contained a speech by Adlai Stevenson. The year was 1952. He said, "The tragedy of our day is the climate of fear in which we live and fear breeds repression. Too often, sinister threats to the Bill of Rights, to freedom of the mind are concealed under the patriotic cloak of anti-Communism." Today, it is the cloak of 'anti-terrorism.' Stevenson also remarked, "It's far easier to fight for principles than to live up to them." In 1952, Adlai Stevenson was lamenting that the fear of anti-communism was breeding unnecessary fear...that that fear was being used to create oppression. The world used to look up to America, but it has not for about the past 17 years...thanks to the sleaze of the past three presidents and actions our government has put forth on the basis of lies. General Douglas MacArthur, who was born and grew up in my former hometown of Little Rock, AR http://www.arkmilitaryheritage.com/ even warned Americans when he retired from the U.S. Army: "Our country is now geared to an arms economy bred in an artificially-induced psychosis of war hysteria and an incessant propaganda of fear." ~ General Douglas MacArthur Today, 'anti-terrorism' is indeed being used in the same manner to create fear and oppression. It is being used to literally change the fabric of this nation and the freedoms we have always enjoyed under our Constitution and our Bill of Rights. If you dig deep enough, you can learn all about Bridas Corporation and what our government did from 1993 through October 2001 to take that Afghanistan pipeline away from an Argentine oil and gas company. Why did we attack? Because of 9-11...and if you do enough research on it, the Official Story can be proven in a court of law to be The Official Lie. I must have skipped school when they were teaching Cowering 101, for I refuse to surrender my freedoms in exchange of being protected by Big Brother, especially when our Government proves every hour of every day how inept it is at doing anything right. It goes even further, for they cannot do anything honorable, decent, or with honesty or integrity, either. If any protecting has to be done, I prefer to do it myself for I know the government would screw it up. I chuckle when I receive an email labeling me a 'Jew' (I am Christian, always have been), or a 'bleeding heart Liberal' (I do not have Liberal ideas in my head, I'm quite Southern and very conservative). My email updates seem to be educating many but at the same time they are drawing out the worst in some who think the anonymity of the Internet somehow grants them the right to be and let's call a spade a spade a belligerent ass hiding behind a keyboard. Every poll shows that Americans clearly know the Bush Administration and Congress are corrupt and not to be trusted. But in this mid-term election year, many voters will blindly go to the polls and re-elect the same thugs they know are corrupt. We have become a nation that seems to be afraid of its own shadow, and we as citizens do not do what the Founding Fathers intended when they formed a Republic ruled by the citizens through the power of the vote. We hear the incessant talk about Mom, family values, the flag and Christianity, all wrapped up in DC-doublespeak, and fail to see that we have the government we deserve because we keep re-electing them back into office. People clearly want change, but they refuse to take the simple step of civics and send the thugs home, cast them from power with the vote. A Third Party effort does not draw support, it draws out the worst of both the Republicans and the Democrats to crush anyone who would stand up for America and for the changes that are long past needed. I was raised by the premise, if a dog bites me, the first time it is his fault; if the dog bites me a second time, it is my fault. I have sent out requests for people to sign certain petitions such as for FBI Translator Sibel Edmonds who furthers the cause of truth. She can identify for the world who was behind 9-11 and it was not 19 wily Arabs. It was foreigners and Americans. That is why Bush-Cheney put a gag order on her, for they do not want Americans to know that Americans were behind 9-11. It amazes me how many Americans send back an email telling me they are afraid to join a petition because it will put them on some list. Well, they are already on the damned Big Brother list and have been since birth. "A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. We have let them supplant our Republic form of democracy with tyranny, and most sit back and do nothing about it except bitch and whine. Where is the outrage that 9-11 was done to put this nation into a war mindset for the same idiotic, bogus 'Global War on Terror' we see and disapprove of? Where was the outrage about the WMD being fabricated regarding Iraq, and thousands of dead Americans, tens of thousands wounded, hundreds of thousands exposed to DU? Where was the outrage about Abu Ghraib and the torture, or torture at any other CIA / DoD prison for that matter? Where is the outrage that thousands have been imprisoned as alleged terrorists but the 'government' has yet to convict even ten of them? What are the thugs afraid of? They are afraid that the falsehood of the 'Global War on Terror' would be exposed if they let these people talk or have their day in court. The United States government does not want you to hear the truth. Where is the outrage that they pass law after law, voted on heavily by both sides of the aisle, undermining the very Constitution they swore to uphold when they took office? Where is the outrage about CIA renditions? Is it because Clinton-Gore started it and Bush-Cheney kept on doing it? Are the Liberals afraid that such an admission will hurt them at the polls in November 2006 and November 2008? If the truth hurts, let it hurt...and then let the healing begin. Clean out Washington, DC! If you want your country back on the right track, clean out Washington, DC. In World War II, the French and English were afraid of the growing German economic power and it had to be crushed. Guess what, today Germany is an economic powerhouse compared to France or England. It poses the question who really won that war? In Vietnam, it was the incessant fear of the 'Communists' taking over Southeast Asia. Guess what? They did! In Desert Storm, the George H W Bush Administration fabricated the case to go to war. Why? Iraq was becoming not a threat, but an embarrassment to the other Arab nations in the region and building its nation into a Westernized European-style country. The Royal Families of the other Arab Nations were afraid that their citizens might start demanding more than the crumbs they get now. Former Iraq Ambassador April Glaspie is still under a gag order so she cannot tell about the falsification of Desert Storm. Is the world a better place thanks to George H W Bush? Not hardly. Hundreds of thousands of veterans are being ignored and their lives are ruined because they were sent to die, be maimed or have their health ruined all for a lie. In Bosnia, this nation sat idly by as many were slaughtered until Clinton ran into his peccadillo regarding Monica Lewinsky, then he decided to intervene to stop the ethnic cleansing. Guess what? They never did convict Slobodan Milosevic. Is the world a better place thanks to Bill Clinton and Al Gore? Not even close. We just polluted another nation with DU and really did not accomplish anything. In Afghanistan, we took over a pipeline with military force following 9-11. Our government does not want you to know that. In 'Iraqi Freedom', the entire world knows that Bush lied and many have died. Many more will die thanks to the DU pollution we have liberally spread around the entire Middle East. Is the world a better place thanks to George W. Bush? Do I feel safer with Mighty Mouse George in the White House? Not even for a second, but I will not submit to fear. I skipped Cowering 101 in school. Washington, DC is already panicking about this upcoming event because they know it will shed light on their wrongdoing for the entire world to see. Legislators Attempt To Head-Off Veteran's March On DC WWW.FIREBASENETWORK.NET By Staff Writer: Rick Townsend firebaseadrian@tc3net.com March 17, 2006, Lawmakers in our nation's capitol are attempting to pacify this country's veterans and supporters of an upcoming grassroots veterans' affairs demonstration planned for Washington, DC next month. On April 25th & 26th Operation Firing For Effect The Veteran's March will kick off a March and Rally in opposition to proposed future cuts in veteran's services, and increases in retired military health care cost. The demonstration will be held on the U.S. Capitol steps and will address a wide variety of issues which affect the future of veterans' affairs in this country. Thousands of veterans and their family members are expected to attend the Rally, which will begin at 8 am at the West Lawn of the Capitol building. Over the past 90 days there has been a groundswell of Bills and Resolutions introduced addressing several veteran and retired military issues. >From real legal representation for veterans filing claims with the VA, to efforts to block TriCare health coverage increases, our elected officials are scrambling to defuse growing anger and discontent within this country's former military community. The Military Retirees' Healthcare Protection Act, H.R. 4949, if passed, would prevent increases in TriCare enrollment fees and pharmacy co-pays. This single Bill would affect over 3 million military retirees and their families. H.R. 4914, if passed, would permit veterans to hire an attorney when they disagree with a benefits claims decision of the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). Currently, veterans are not allowed to hire an attorney until the end of the administrative appeals process, specifically, after the Board of Veterans Appeals has rendered a decision. In addition, there is a 72.4 billion VA supplemental funding bill in Congress. And yet another Bill would define veteran's health care funding as a "Cost of War" to be addressed in the Department of Defense budget. In short, the word "veteran" has been mentioned more times in the past 3 months, than the past 3 decades. Organizers of Operation Firing For Effect The Veteran's March are convinced their efforts to unite this country's veterans has resulted in this recent flurry of activity and posturing on The Hill. Vietnam combat veteran, Gene Simes is the Chairman of Operation Firing For Effect The Veteran's March. Simes said, "The introduction of these new Bills is not a coincidence. Our elected officials are very aware of our plans and they know we are coming". Event Co-Chairman, Gulf War One combat veteran, James North explained The Veteran's March and Rally this way, "Our objectives are very simple and straight forward. First, we want to draw public awareness and media attention to serious problems facing our former military personnel and their families. Second, we want to send a message to our Congress and Senate demanding Veterans' Affairs issues take precedence over special interest issues. Third, we want to send a message to our deployed troops that we support them and they can count on us to fight for the protection of their earned benefits and services. Forth, we want to improve the State of Veterans' Affairs in this country in an effort to increase enlistment and improve retention in the U.S. military, thus preserve our all volunteer military. Fifth, we want to provide our former military personnel and their families a voice in matters that affect them," North said. Vietnam combat veteran and noted veteran's rights advocate, Jere Beery is Public Relations Director for the Rally. "I really don't think many Americans will be pacified or fooled by the recent and sudden pro-veteran activity on Capitol Hill. We have to influence the overall mindset of the entire Congress and Senate, and that will take a great deal more than a couple of showboat Bills," Beery stated. Jim North agrees with Beery. "The problems facing our veterans will only be solved when the American people demand our government provide and protect the benefits and services earned by our troops. If we can find billions of tax dollars for Mars exploration, surely we can find adequate funding for our veterans," North said. "It's a simply matter of priorities," North added. Gene Simes and James North are very confident of a good turn out in DC. "We are providing an opportunity for the American people to voice their concerns about the future of veteran's affairs. Our April 25th Rally will be merely the beginning of a much bigger movement to insure veteran's issues take precedence over all special interest issues. This is the message we are taking to Washington, DC," Simes stated. In a related story, yesterday the U.S. Senate voted down Stabenow Amendment 3141 requiring mandatory funding for veteran's health care.
