IMHO,Alice may be the greatest character developed for a tv show,and Ruth Wilson was the perfect pick to be cast to play that role.
What you need to understand about Alice is that she is a genius and a true sociopath that gets bored easily and loves drama.
Besides being fearless,she is remorseless. She is capable of doing absolutely anything at any time,and smiling while she is doing it.
She likes and admires John Luther because she considers him to be nearly as smart as she is,but moral. Morality is one thing she knows the definition of,but doesn't understand. This is why John Luther fascinates her,and may be the one person that doesn't have to worry too much about her killing him.
As long as he keeps a certain emotional distance from her,that is. He's smart enough to understand that if he started hitting on her she would consider him "ordinary" and it would suddenly become "the spider and the fly" time.
There is no justice in the entertainment world if Ruth Wilson doesn't win every award in sight for her portrayal of Alice.
