Michael Savage on George Zimmerman: ‘You have to find this man guilty’ [AUDIO] 11:04 AM 07/04/2013, Jeff Poor On his show on Tuesday night, talk show host Michael Savage said that George Zimmerman, who is currently on trial for the murder of Trayvon Martin, should be found guilty of second-degree manslaughter based on two things: 1) The state of his firearm and 2) The language he allegedly used on a 911 call when he was first reporting his suspicions about Martin. But first Savage explained why his insight should be valued over others in the media covering the trial. “I’m about to break an analysis that no one yet in the media has done, as you would expect from me — being the senior member of the American media and possibly the most insightful,” Savage said. “And I have to blow my own horn because everyone else tries to break my horn.” “I will tell you that I broke the case down as follows,” Savage continued. “You want to hear it, or don’t you want to hear it? I know your mind is made up: White people generally think Zimmerman is innocent, except for liberals who are sure he is guilty; black people probably to the 99th percentile are sure Zimmerman’s a murderer. So where does Michael Savage fit in? I’m an independent observer and I call them as I see them, and I think Zimmerman committed what he’s being charged with: manslaughter. He didn’t intend to kill him, but he may as well have intended to kill him.” Savage laid out his case, saying that the murder could have been avoided, but based on Zimmerman’s gun having a round in the chamber with the safety off, Zimmerman intended “to find some he could shoot or intimidate.” “Zimmerman was carrying a Kel Tec semi-automatic 9mm handgun,” Savage said. “So? Big deal. It is a big deal because he had a bullet chambered in the gun and he had the safety off… Had he not chambered a round prior to meeting Trayvon, and had he not taken the safety off, even if Trayvon, during the altercation even if Trayvon had tried to grab the gun away from Zimmerman — had that gun not been chambered with a round and safety off, Trayvon Martin would have had to use two hands. You can’t do it with one hand.” “Many of you don’t own guns,” Savage said. “He would have had to let go of Zimmerman. He would have had to stop punching him. He would have had to take both hands on the gun, hold the pistol grip with one, pull the top back to chamber a round and then he would have had to unlock the safety, during which time the mixed-martial-artist-in-training Mr. Zimmerman would have had time to throw him off and pound the hell out of him. But because Zimmerman carried a loaded weapon with the safety off, Trayvon Martin is dead. Therefore, the responsibility is in the hands of Zimmerman. “I don’t care which side you are on,” Savage continued. “He wasn’t just carrying a gun, he wasn’t just a watch guy: He was hunting. He was looking, he was hoping to find someone he could shoot or intimidate with that loaded weapon, ladies and gentlemen of the Savage jury.” In addition to that, Savage said the controversial 911 call was also damning. “[Z]immerman says the back entrance and under his breath, he can be heard saying ‘f-ing,’ and the first word is ‘f—ing;’ the second word begins with a ‘c’ and ends with ‘ns,’” Savage said. “I didn’t make that up. It’s on the 911 tape. And I’m afraid that the fact that he has this racist statement — made this racist statement on the 911 call — and that he was carry a loaded gun with a bullet in the chamber and the safety off, you have to find this man guilty of second-degree manslaughter is my opinion. Something’s wrong with this whole story.” That 911 call was debated back in March and April 2012, with some saying Zimmerman said “fucking coon” and others saying it was “fucking cold” or “fucking punks.”

They are single-action only,with a long fairly heavy 2-stage trigger. You will never cause the hammer to drop accidentally because the hammer is never cocked until the trigger is pulled. Secondly,ONLY a fool carries a firearm for self-defense with a empty chamber. Truthfully,even most fools are too smart to do that. And finally,YES,you DO plan on killing somebody when you are attacked and feel like you are in danger of either serious bodily injury or death. If your plan is to get beaten to death or crippled,why bother to carry a gun at all? It's hard to believe anybody takes that gas bag seriously.

Fred,you are as ignorant as Savage when it comes to this. BTW,why do YOU supposed people carry guns,if not to be ready for "mortal combat"? Would they carry them to NOT be ready to defend their lives if necessary? Maybe you think they carry them to look "cool",even though nobody knows they have them when they are concealed? Or maybe you think they carry them because they are a little heavy on one side and lean that way unless they carry something on the other side to balance them out?

You support Savage's point about GZ's probable state of mind and intent. Do you think he would have acted differently had he not been armed? Being armed while on neighborhood watch duty was a no-no, although he wasn't technically on duty at the time.
Of course not. Savage is a idiot that uses inflammatory language to "prove" a false point by exaggeration,but people carry guns to protect themselves from attack and/or loss of life. Sometimes this results in people who need to be killed getting killed. You ain't going to catch me crying over wannabe thug Martin's early death. Who knows how many lives Zimmerman saved by removing that turd from the gene pool? Do you think he would have acted differently had he not been armed? I don't know how he would have acting,and neither do you. I DO know that when I am armed I am always more cautious and willing to walk away from a confrontation than I am when I am unarmed. If someone threatens me when I am unarmed,I WILL put their shit out of order. If that same person were to issue the same threat when I'm armed,I will back away if possible. If they get pushy I will tell them I am armed and WILL kill them graveyard dead if they keep coming at me. So far everyone I have told this to has believed me and backed off. The first one that doesn't is graveyard dead. The difference is that when I am not armed I have no idea if the other guy and/or his pals are armed,and can't afford to turn my back to him/them or to allow him/them the upper hand in any respect. If I see him/them as a serious threat,I make sure he or the leader either goes unconscious or starts screaming like a little girl. The best defense really is a good offense. If I'm armed I can afford to just lay back and see where it goes. Unarmed and by myself,I need to be pro-active.

Yea we had this same conversation on another thread, and those who dislike guns was saying just because he carried it "ready to go" he was looking to kill someone that night (Usual gun hater rhetoric)... They have absolutely no clue about self defense, other than to dial 911 and hope the cops get there before they're dead (Good luck with that)...

What makes Savage think that someone in Florida would walk around in the dark in an area where crime problems had been occuring with a weapon that they would not have at the ready just in case they were confronted by some criminal type? And just because they were confronted by a criminal type does not equate to shooting the confronter dead! As it regards language on tapes, I heard the word that apparently Savage is so upset about could have been several words. Geeze......how good can tapes be when two mothers both swore under oath that the screams for help came from their own son. I think Savage needs to think about this, er research, some more insteasd of patting his back or blowing his own whistle, or was that blowing his own horn!
Fred, this area had lately been under a good deal of criminal activity. Do you think anyone should walk around there in the dark without a weapon? Further, what good would a weapon be if someone stepped out of the shadows in front of you and began attacking.....do you say, 'oh wait a minute, I need to chamber a bullet or turn off the safety now or should I wait til you bludgeon me to death or stab me to death or what? He did not have the weapon in his hands ready to shoot--had he been doing that, perhaps an argument could be made that he was 'looking to shoot somebody'. But not necessarily. Persxonally, I believe Savage is just trying to be controversial--did you notice his 'most white people, except liberals' comment...that tells me he is trying to be controversial. His world is full of orangutans and he's trying to rile the flocks indignational feathers up! Is it ratings month?
Besides all that, Fred, did you notice Savage used the medical examiner's comments to the efffect that 'the damage to GZ's cranium was not that bad--that it only needed bandaids'... Do you honestly think that at the time his head was getting whacked into the concrete (the ME says l whack could have caused the two splits that were not lying next to each other--I donn't believe that either) that anyone would be capable of thinking they weren't getting beaten to death..that one would realize the person attacking you really wasn't going to smash your brains out. Ordinary people would be thinking they were in a fight for their life.

Truthfully I was surprised to see this article and it's point of view from him and that's why I posted it... It makes me wonder if he isn't going senile like a few posters who inhabit this place that want to see Zimmerman fry for protecting himself... BTW I think this trial is more about self protection rights more than it's about putting a minority behind bars for shooting another minority... If he's found guilty you damn well other judges/juries will use this to make life rough on those who do have to protect themselves from the bad guys (and some politicians)... We know that because anyone who listens to the tape to dispatch as much as 10 times and listens to those help calls can hear Mr. Zimmerman... and you also have witness testimony Mr. Jonathan Good who stated that He believed it was Zimmerman yelling for help... because 1. common sense he was on the bottom while Martin was on the top delivering what he thought to be blows... to Zimmerman's head.... 2. he also states that the Help cries came towards him not away from him... if it had been Martin the guy whose back was facing him...his cries would of been traveling away from him...but Zimmerman seen Good come out to his porch his face was facing him.... If someone is screaming for help that many times and the person who you say was in fear of his life etc... wouldn't he know by then to run away... he should know after the first punch that GZ... wasn't a stalker... cause he immediately started yelling for help ... and continued to yell for help.. but no help came.... when was Martin going to stop... what when George bled enough or when he cracked his skull and his brains fell out on the sidewalk... sounds like to Me Martin just cared about ONE thing... himself... he continued his assault even knowing Mr. Zimmerman was going back to his truck... How do I know this... because evidence show it... Savage is an arrogant know nothing fool. Unless there is a LAW in place that forbids it, the ONLY way a weapon is ever carried for self defense is cocked and locked/ condition III. There is NO safety on any revolver idiot, and Glocks et. al. all have TRIGGER safeties. Not that idiots understand any of that of course. As usual the IDIOTS are making it up as they go along, (hey savage owns a gun so obviously he's an "expert" on carry right?). What gets me is that anybody pays any attention to what that supercilious poseur says about anything.
