Fred was a stray dog. He came to us October of the year 2000. My son was in first grade when he came into our lives. I have many good memories of this smart good dog. I remember telling the kids not to feed him so that he would go home to be with his owner. I think the kids fed him and Fred stuck around. We put an ad in the newspaper trying to find who his owners were. We never got a response. I relented and let the kids keep him.

We went on walks. He didn't need a leash he would walk right beside you. I enjoyed that a lot. I would also take him to the river with me. We would walk through the water together me catching minnows or fishing and him following loyally along.

I remember when the kids were little and we took out the convertible and went to the lake. We took Fred and our other dog Rex with us. Walking through the woods and looking at the numerous fossil rocks. The kids were so young and we had such a good time. I will never forget that day. I don't think the kids will either. We all have so many good memories of you Fred.

Fred died at 4:07 pm eastern time today.

RIP Fred you will never be forgotten. I love you.

Sorry to hear the sad news. Pets are forever part of your family. Sorry about your loss.

Did you shoot him or have him put to sleep? Will you bury him in your back yard or have him cremated?

I'm afraid to do it, but I need another dog. And all that goes with it.

We ALL need a dog. I'll never have another one, though. I'm just not willing to go through losing another one. My dobie has been dead for over 20 years now and I still miss her.

You have relatives? I feel for your nephew.

Do you draw pictures or use sign language when trying to communicate with him?

It's hard to lose a good dog, especially one that chose you as the owner.

Almost every country in the Middle East is awash in oil, and we have to side with the one that has nothing but joos. Goddamn, that was good thinkin'. Esso posted on 2012-01-13 7:37:56 ET

Putting aside for a moment my sincere animus towards you stone,

I want to tell you what my father told me when I was a snot nosed crumb snatcher,

"the pain and grief that we feel for our dogs when we lose them is part of the price that we pay for their LOVE."

Only failures give up on love because of pain, because PAIN is always part of LOVE.

Sorry to hear this Stone. Never easy having a good dog pass. Godspeed.

Never swear "allegiance" to anything other than the 'right to change your mind'!
