In early April, Duarte warned that the Arctic summer sea ice was melting at a rate faster than predicted by conventional climate models, and could be ice free as early as 2015 - rather than toward the end of the century, as the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) projected in 2007. He said:
"The Arctic situation is snowballing: dangerous changes in the Arctic derived from accumulated anthropogenic green house gases lead to more activities conducive to further greenhouse gas emissions. This situation has the momentum of a runaway train."
Duarte is lead author of a paper published last year in Nature Climate Change documenting how "tipping elements" in the Arctic ecosystems leading to "abrupt changes" that would dramatically impact "the global earth system" had "already started up". Duarte and his team concluded: "We are facing the first clear evidence of dangerous climate change."
"The Department is developing cooperative partnerships with interagency and international Arctic stakeholders to collaboratively address future opportunities and potential challenges inherent in the projected opening of the Arctic."
Military: "We'll be the Last Ones Standing". .......8D
"Melting sea ice in the Arctic may lead to new opportunities for shipping, tourism, and resource exploration, but the increase in human activity may require a significant increase in operational capabilities in the region in order to safeguard lawful trade and travel and to prevent exploitation of new routes for smuggling and trafficking."
serious consequences for international security. The group, which includes among its founding members leading Arctic specialists such as Prof Peter Wadhams, head of the Polar Ocean Physics Group at Cambridge University, stated that:
"The weather extremes from last year are causing real problems for farmers, not only in the UK, but in the US and many grain-producing countries. World food production can be expected to decline, with mass starvation inevitable. The price of food will rise inexorably, producing global unrest and making food security even more of an issue."
"I'd like to report some suspicious activities that I'm supposed to report as a loyal American."
"Yes Sir, what do you wish to report?"
"There's some planes flying overhead spraying toxic chemicals into the air we breathe. Unknown party's are putting a toxic industrial byproduct called fluoride into our drinking water. At the airport, there are these sinister looking thug sexually molesting people and irradiating them with massive doses of X-rays. The vaccine the government says I must make my child have is filled with various poisons and now the government wants me to start spying on my neighbors. And now my bank is stealing my money from my checking account!"
"But sir, those are much needed precautions to keep you safe from the terrorists!"
"But, what I described are serious emergencies and I would like..."
"Sir, I believe that you are facing some kind of threat and to help you decide what that threat is, I've sent a VIPR team to your place, expect them any minute now. And a copy of this call will be sent to the Department of Homeland Security's database that helps the government track the real threats to liberty, freedom and the American way."
"But, but, I was...Just a minute, someone is pounding on my door. Wait, they've kicked the door in and are pointing machine guns at me and it looks like....."
"Sorry, sir, but we must be prudent when dealing with threats to our great way of life. I'll notify the surviving members of your family, who also will be rounded up for enhanced interrogation."

On his first day joining the Guardian Environment blog, DeSmogger Graham Readfearns first post - How climate scientists are being framed - quickly gained traction and ended up featured on the Guardians UK front page.

LMAO! I am here. There is plenty of ice. What Arctic are they talking about?
You want me to believe the most notorious liars of the day rather than what I see standing here on the ice.
Now that would be ignorant.
They'll be filming "Swamp Men of the Arctic Circle " up in Alaska pretty soon when all that permafrost water doesn't refreeze. If you are missing the minimal amount of teeth, you could apply as an extra.

LOL! Our Shaman says your climate doom cult preacher is full of sh!t.
Yeah right. Your Shamans have already sounded the decreasing ice alarm.
