They are pronounced female at birth and live their lives as female. If chromosomes determined someone sex (or rather, proteins on the chromosomes) then those women like eden atwood would be forced to live as men despite their genitalia. Atwood doesn't magically become male the second she learned that she had XY chromosomes. I'm simply saying that we don't base sex on chromosomes or fertility or even on the presence of complete sex organs. Doctors base a person's sex on their appearance. The argument here is whether that is appearance at birth or appearance later in life.
