Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mojahed announced that the military vehicles went up in flames after militants set off a remote-controlled bomb at the base, located approximately 40 kilometers (25 miles) north of the capital Kabul. He added that an oil tanker driver had been killed in the militant attack. Local Afghan officials, however, brushed off Taliban’s allegations, saying that the American military vehicles were burnt as a result of a cooking gas cylinder blast.
