It's no secret that the Department of Homeland Security considers returning veterans a threat to the established order. They said as much back in 2009 when they wrote in a reportexposed by Alex Jones and the alternative media: “Returning veterans possess combat skills and experience that are attractive to right-wing extremists... DHS/I&A is concerned that right-wing extremists will attempt to recruit and radicalize veterans in order to boost their violent capacities.”

Following the case of veteran Brandon Raub, who was abducted and held in a psychiatric ward for Facebook posts the government considered subversive, police in Ohio seized a veteran's guns after he was adjudged to be mentally incompetent despite the fact a Veterans Administration psychiatric evaluation determined he was not mentally ill.

“Since the veteran is active in the so-called truth movement or patriot community, it is assumed that his involvement in this field is part of the reason why he has been targeted for psychiatric evaluation,” Paul Joseph Watson wrote on August 24, 2012.

According to constitutional attorney Michael Connelly, the government is now moving to strip veterans it determines to be mentally incompetent of their Second Amendment right to own a firearm. Connelly cites a letter “sent by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs to hundreds, perhaps thousands, of America’s heroes.”

“A determination of incompetency will prohibit you from purchasing, possessing, receiving, or transporting a firearm or ammunition,” the VA letter states. “If you knowingly violate any of these prohibitions, you may be fined, imprisoned, or both pursuant to the Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act, Pub.L.No. 103-159, as implemented at 18, United States Code 924(a)(2).”

This must be Barack Obama’s way of thanking our veterans for serving,” writes the Gateway Pundit. “US veterans are receiving letters from the government informing them that they are disabled and not allowed to own, purchase or possess a firearm. If the veteran does decide to purchase a firearm he will by fined, imprisoned or both... This comes on page 2 of the VA letter.”

See page 2, page 3

Connelly explains that the letter provides no specifics on the reasons for the proposed finding of incompetency and is based on a determination by a bureaucrat at the VA. “In every state in the United States no one can be declared incompetent to administer their own affairs without due process of law and that usually requires a judicial hearing with evidence being offered to prove to a judge that the person is indeed incompetent. This is a requirement of the Fifth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution,” he writes.

Obviously, the Department of Veterans Affairs can’t be bothered by such impediments as the Constitution, particularly since they are clearly pushing to fulfill one of Obama’s main goals, the disarming of the American people. Janet Napolitano has already warned law enforcement that some of the most dangerous among us are America’s heroes, our veterans, and now according to this letter from the VA they can be prohibited from buying or even possessing a firearm because of a physical or mental disability.

The federal government is targeting veterans because it realizes that when martial law is declared and people are rounded up for political reasons – REX 84 and other military contingency plans demonstrate that the government has long planned for such an inevitability – the military experience of veterans will be crucial to any effective resistance.

“The reality is that Obama will not get all of the gun control measures he wants through Congress, and they wouldn’t be enough for him anyway,” Connelly concludes. “He wants a totally disarmed America so there will be no resistance to his plans to rob us of our nation. That means we have to ask who will be next. If you are receiving a Social Security check will you get one of these letters? Will the government declare that you are incompetent because of your age and therefore banned from firearm ownership. It certainly fits in with the philosophy and plans of the Obama administration. It is also certain that our military veterans don’t deserve this and neither do any other Americans.”

And some people were wondering why the doctors were diagnosing so many cases of PTSD...

And some people were wondering why the doctors were diagnosing so many cases of PTSD...

The docs in the VA hospitals in the early 80's were practically begging veterans to accept PTSD disability ratings. Few refused because it was "free money" and if you had no other or only a 10 percent disbility rating,it would bump you up to over 30 percent, and then you qualified for free prescription drugs and other bennies I forget now. The pay rate for 30 percent was about 3 times higher than what was paid for 20 percent, too.

I have met literally dozens of VN vets at the VA hospitals over the years who claimed to be suffering from PTSD due to their service in VN,and have yet to talk to one that had ever actually been in combat. The closest is one teletype operator that was at a 101st Abn firebase that had been overran in some areas, but not his. All you have to do is ask them a few questions about NVA gear, weapons,or even US infantry weapons and tactics, and they draw a blank.

The funniest incident I know of is a friend of mine from VN (CSM Franklin D Miller) won the MoH,and ran recon (mostly SOG) there for 5-1/2 years. He later retired from the army as a CSM and went to work at the VA hospital in St.Petersburg,Fla as a veterans representative. Being a retired SF CSM with a MoH and a book written about him and his VN service,he didn't keep most of the identifying stuff most retired senior NCO's and officers keep around their offices because all that stuff would tend to intimidate a young E-4 that had maybe had a rough tour somewhere, and was having some problems. Maybe even intimidate them enough they might not be willing to press a claim they should press to get the help they need.

Anyway,I was talking with Doug one day back in the 90's and the subject of wannabe's/phonies came up,and he started laughing and told me about the funniest one he ran into. Said a guy came in to press a PTSD claim and was about as flakey as they get with all the standard "If I told you what I had done in VN I would have to kill you!" crap,so Doug got him to start talking about what type of field experiences he had on a typical mission while leaving out details about the area or the purpose of the mission. The next thing he knew the guy was quoting details of missions Doug had described in his book! This bozo was quoting Doug's own missions to him as his own.

He's probably wondering to this day why he didn't get his award.

BTW,Doug Miller wasn't getting PTSD disability,either.

I have a HUD-VASH vocher and only pay a third of my rent and Uncle Sam pays the rest. If I lose my job they pay all of it and I get a 118.00 check to pay my utilities and electric.

When I was unemployed and had just moved in, I submitted a dental plan I made sure I got in early, and had a private dentist who was paid by the VA replace my upper bridge in front and cap my lower front teeth that had been ground down because the old bridge had not been so good.

It is an excellent bridge and caps, and I am very happy with how my teeth look now.

The kicker is that they were doing the dental program all wrong and I actually was not eligible for the work I got.

With the VA, sometime you win the benefit lottery, sometimes you don't.

I have a HUD-VASH vocher

I'm not homeless anymore. I own 8 acres,a house,and a big workshop.

Back when I was sleeping in cars those programs didn't exist for white males.

They were doing pretty much the same thing when I got out, trying to get people to sign up for disabilities they didn't have... Even though I had some minor hearing loss from being around loud HVAC equipment and jets for 20 years I declined to fill out the paperwork... Because if I remember right doesn't that lock you into using the VA for everything??

No. After a botched operation that almost cost me a leg, waiting months for cancelled operations that caused me to go to a local ER to keep from dying, and getting doctors who were graduates of Caribbean medical schools, the only thing I go to the VA for anymore is free prescription meds, and I am a 100 percent service-connected disabled vet. 130 percent if you add it all together.

After the VA refused to pay for 2 (now 4) emergency life-saving operations at a local hospital because I thought it made more sense to go 25 miles to seek help than to drive 68 miles to seek help when I was dying,I figured to hell with them. I hope every freaking doctor and hospital administrator in the entire VA system loses their jobs and becomes homeless.

They get away with this because there is a VA regulation that states they will NOT pay for any surgery not done at a VA hospital unless it is approved in advance.

How do you go about getting emergency surgery approved in advance?

No.

I meant if you wanted them to pay for what they promised they would pay for...

That's the reason why I didn't do that, I have Tricare and a policy thru my employer... If it's not an emergency I go to the clinics at the base, if it's an emergency I go downtown... Either way I go the government is still reponsible for paying for some of it, whether they like it or not...
