Decorated Combat Veteran Arrested In New York: Charged With 5 Felonies For Possession of AR Magazines

In the latest attack on the American people, a decorated War Hero has been arrested and charged with five counts of third degree criminal possession of a weapon, for having empty 30 round AR-15 Magazines in his vehicle.

On Sunday January 6th Staff Sgt. Nathan Haddad, a decorated combat veteran, was driving through Jefferson County New York when he was randomly pulled over for a vehicle check. Haddad, who had five 30 round empty magazines in his possession, was arrested by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department and charged with five felony counts.

According to Haddad’s brother, Michael Haddad, Nathan thought these magazines were legally made before the New York Assault Weapons Ban. When Nathan Haddad was arrested the new ban had not even been fully enacted yet.

This is not a criminal, this is not some thug looking to hurt people; this is a decorated combat veteran who was recently honored by the Philadelphia chapter of Blue Star Mothers and the Union League’s Armed Services Council for helping disabled vets get back on their feet. What’s happening to Army veteran Nate Haddad is an absolute attack on liberty. Here we have a man who honorably served his country, who was trusted with weaponry that far exceeded anything he was carrying, that now finds himself facing the possibility of spending years in prison.

Still think these gun control laws are meant to stop criminals?

Nathan Haddad’s brother has set up a legal defense fund for his brother who cannot afford to fight these charges on his own. We ask that you share this story with everyone you know so that this attack on Hassad is seen for what it is, an attack on every law abiding citizen in America. (1 image)

When crap like this happens, I remember a line from the movie 'Young Riders', it was Doc Holiday (emilio esteve) who said it...he looked at the guy that was going to draw on him and said.."I'll Make You Famous"....

Anyway, what I mean here is, if these souped up meter maids want to deliberately trash a law abiding veteran, then I think it's our duty to take names and numbers, photos and bios, and help make them 'INFAMOUS'....

The arresting officer, where he's stationed, his superiors, his home, his friends, who brought the charges, the prosecuter.....shine the light on the real cockroaches...

LOL! Yes, thanks~ My cousin (she's gone now) loved the series so much, we spent a couple of days (just before she died) watching every tape she had of them.

New York passed a ban on high capacity magazines in the mid 1990s I believe. Sarge, get out of that shithole New York before it consumes you.

Decorated Combat Veteran Arrested In New York: Charged With 5 Felonies For Possession of AR Magazines

INTVERVIEW - COMBAT VETERAN ARRESTED!

New York's draconian Gun Ban has now claimed it's first VICTIM!

On February 1, 2013 at 1:15pm, I conducted a phone interview with Michael Haddad, brother of Nathan Haddad, the Veteran accused of violating New York's law which bans "large capacity ammunition feeding devices."

Nathan Haddad, a decorated combat veteran with 4 overseas deployments, including Iraq and Korea is now under Arrest! For obvious reasons, his attorney has advised him not make any statements.

Nathan Haddad served his Country for 12 years in the United States Army, before being injured during Special Forces Training. He was discharged from Fort Drum, New York in October of 2010, due to injuries sustained in training.

On January 6, 2013, at approximately 7:30pm, Haddad was traveling down Steinhilber Road in the town of LeRay, NY., when was pulled over by a Deputy from the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department. A search was conducted of Haddad's vehicle and 5 AR-15 magazines were found in the trunk of his car. It is unknown what, if any, probable cause was had to justify this search. Haddad is now being charged with Five counts of Third Degree Criminal Possession of a Weapon, a Felony!

Prior to all the recent gun control legislation in New York, "pre-ban" magazines, those manufactured prior to 1994, were legal. The Sheriff's Department alleges the magazines in his possession were not "pre-ban" and that would make them illegal. Imagine someone banning spoons, now it becomes your duty to prove when you bought them, and if you can't, congratulations! You're now a Felon.

Michael Haddad reported that his brother is a true Patriot who loves his Country, but has even been forced to sell all of his firearms to pay the legal fees associated with this injustice. In addition, if convicted, Nathan Haddad will lose his Right to Keep and Bear Arms and all of the Veterans Benefits, including his disability payments - something he spent 12 years fighting for! Michael went on to say that his brother Nathan planned to donate any money left over money from his Legal Defense Fund to other Veterans facing similar persecution.

Many Freedom loving New Yorkers are refusing to register their guns and or comply with New York's unconstitutional, draconian gun laws, and are saying they will not register their semi-auto rifles or modify their magazines. Turning law abiding gun owners and American Heroes into Criminals doesn't keep this Country safe and only places fear and distrust into our most ardent defenders.

Nathan Haddad, a decorated combat veteran with multiples deployments to Afghanistan, spent spent 12 years serving his Country in the United States Army

Absolutely! Like...yesterday. After all the citizens have been properly stripped of everything they own for their own protection...the shit is really going to hit the fan then...guess who will still have weapons?...lol

Fort Drum veteran honored at dinner with VIPs for taking care of wounded warrior

March 15, 2012 - Paul Steven Ghiringhelli, Staff Writer

Army veteran Nate Haddad, an employee at Fort Drum's Network Enterprise Center, appeared in uniform as an honored guest Feb. 28 at the historic Union League building in downtown Philadelphia, Pa., where Lt. Gen. William Troy, right, director of Army Staff at the Pentagon, was a featured guest speaker. (Courtesy photo)

...snip...

Organizers said the Feb. 28 event was aimed at raising awareness of the challenges, transitions and unique conditions today’s service members undergo. Haddad, who was medically discharged from the Army in 2010, said he didn’t do anything special to deserve the attention.

The story of why he was singled out by a community hundreds of miles from Fort Drum began late last year, when he received a call from a 10th Mountain Division (LI) buddy, “Kyle” – a combat engineer who was left with a broken back when a roadside bomb detonated under his vehicle in Afghanistan.

... Haddad then traveled to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Md., and drove his injured buddy three hours up the road to spend Christmas with the man’s family. “The worst time to be in the hospital is during a holiday season,” Haddad said. “What I didn’t know at the time was that (my friend) sent out a mass email telling people he had two disabled vets coming over for Christmas and that it would be nice if they had a few letters or presents.”

That email reached Marian L. Moran, president of the Philadelphia chapter of Blue Star Mothers. Haddad said, largely due to her efforts, some 100 gifts showed up for Christmas. “It was absolutely astounding,” he said. “We gave away a bunch of it because there was just too much.”

But the expressions of support did not end there. Soon after the holidays, Moran followed up with Haddad, discovering he was acting not only as a friend but also as a mentor to the injured Soldier – helping Kyle get back on his feet, explaining the Medical Evaluation Board process to him and just offering to help in any way he could.

“I guess she was very inspired and impressed,” Haddad said. “She said the story went along well with the theme of ‘From War to Home’ at her upcoming dinner (at the Union League).”

...snip...

[at the dinner] “When Kyle came in, I don’t think there was a dry eye in that whole place,” ...[Haddad] said of the young specialist, who was told by doctors in Bagram that he would never walk again. “They gave a brief synopsis of what had happened to him … and here he came walking up (unaided). No cane. No kind of assistance at all.”

Haddad said he believed the evening’s theme, “From War to Home,” was a topic that’s crucial for communities across America to understand and support.

“Yeah, we need to support the troops overseas,” he said. “But at the same time, when they come home, the war is not really over, and they still need support.

...snip...

After more than a decade of active duty, Haddad left the Army just over a year ago. He had been a ground surveillance systems operator when he severely injured his back and shoulder during Army Special Forces selection training at Fort Bragg, N.C., in 2005. He was re-classified as an interrogator and spent the last several years of active duty undergoing multiple surgeries.

...snip...

“Nate deserves some kind of award for the leadership he has shown in watching over his buddy,” she said. Melinda Roney, NEC’s Logistics Branch chief and Haddad’s supervisor, said she fully understands what kind of asset the former Soldier is to the Army. “Nathan is the type of employee that supervisors wish they had a dozen of,” Roney said. “He consistently works hard, is good-humored and always goes above and beyond without thinking twice.

“Giving 100 percent of himself comes naturally to Nate,” she added.

The sheriff will be unemployed come the next election. Add him to Obama's jobs lost tally.

But you have to remember he was more than likely elected by Liberals. So why would they vote him out they are too stupid to know that they might be next!!

Sounds like the sheriff thinks protection of the peoples rights is something left open to interpretation and optional..

This is way upstate New York near Fort Drum. They probably hate NYC and gov Cummo, and are a lot more conservative. A libtard might be able to con folks into electing him sheriff, but he won't last after this, IMO.

That's good to hear because we need to get rid of as many sheriffs as we can who won't uphold their sworn duties...

True. Nothing above 10 rounds. The latest law just passed and not yet in effect will reduce that to 7.

some text

"If men through fear, fraud or mistake, should in terms renounce and give up any essential natural right, the eternal law of reason and the great end of society, would absolutely vacate such renunciation; the right to freedom being the gift of God Almighty, it is not in the power of Man to alienate this gift, and voluntarily become a slave."
