Didn't we not long ago witness yet another multiple-fatal accident involving caused by a High-Capacity Ferry? Ever hear of heinous disasters involving a single-occupant canoe, kayak, or dinghy? No, you do not.

But the powerful, sinister National Mass-Transit Association pushes people out of rowboats and into Barges of Mass-Death. Time to ban every single one of them. Now!

I just replied in kind. They just migrated to a new site and I think lots of folks were misplaced in the shuffle. I'm not enamored with the format but I can deal with it. war, sneakypete, lucysmom, and mininggold are members although petey really hates the format and may have given up on the site.

I'd ping him and the others but I don't want to be accused of poaching - too much.

The last thing we need is that looney tunes Boris to show up over there. It already has one resident loon - Quix.

New is not always improved, and that seems to be the case over there. I believe that I used to be a member, but got lost in the software change or something.

I was on the 'new' site around Christmas time. Then for the past week or so I couldn't access the new site (timeout error) until war sent me a link and I was in like Flynn again.

I hope that makes sense.

I did hate the format, but I understand they have done some changing around now. I haven't given up on it,I'be just been too busy working in my yard and on my workshop to be on-line much the last few days. For example,I just spread and graded 40 tons of gravel in the last two days, plus had to move a lot of stuff around.

Putting in a septic tank (have a full bath almost installed with a handicapped shower and hot water)next week, and then will be installing a 250K propane furance and air-conditioning within the next two weeks. Too damn tired to be online much. Went to sleep tonight at around 8:30 and was back up at midnight. Getting ready to go back to bed again within the next hour. Was up at 5:30 this morning because I had to go to town to buy a bunch on stuff, including a new refrigerator.

Life will really be good once I have a fully functional bathroom, heat, and ac in there. I may just hook my hammock up out there and use the house for storage.

Thank you for reminding me of something. Not long ago we had several nations taken over by gun control advocates, and gun bans and controls were a big part of how they came to power. People voted for, supported them financially, and some people even risked their lives to give these people control over them AND their country because these new rulers were going to make everybody safe from attack by armed criminals.

Nobody ever mentioned making the people safe from armed agents of the government, and the labor camps and execution courts were created.

This is just a guess because I never lived in any of these countries, but I'm guessing the subjects/serfs of Nazi Germany, the USSR,Uganda,Cuba,China,Cambodia,Laos,North Vietnam,Eastern Germany,Poland, etc, etc, etc ever really felt all that safe unless they were one of the lucky ones being chauffeured to their country estates on the weekends.

Just look at how well gun-control worked out for all those millions.

Then again, those people did get what they wanted when they handed control of their lives over to the government. There can be no question they got "taken care of." Maybe not in the sense they expected, but as a wise man once observed,"The devil is always in the details". BUT.....,it will be "different this time",huh?

Fred, from what I have seen posting to all the political sites with even the slightest conservative base has gone down.

I'm guessing most people who aren't hard-core globalists/statists are finally burnt out on it all by now because of all the Republican betrayals. Why bother to contribute to and work for a party that uses your money to work against you?

Not that the Dims are in better shape because they're not. They are just too slow and blind to recognize it. After all, they ARE Dims.

I really do think more than a few of them are starting to wake up and realize they are being "played" by their political leadership, too.

Hell,Bill Clinton came right out and TOLD them this when he was the president and describing his "Third Way" as being "Neither Communism OR Capitalism, but a mixture of the two".

What do you get when you combine Communism and Capitalism? The answer is "Fascism".

I could swear I heard banjo music playing in the background as he walked away, smiling and saying to himself under his breath,"I really sold that well to the rubes!"

Fred, from what I have seen posting to all the political sites with even the slightest conservative base has gone down.

I've seen the same and I have my own opinions as to the reasons.

While I enjoyed participating a dozen years ago in the banter and debates, now I read more and respond less. I've learned that I won't convince you to become a Christian, nor will I make Boris a literate communicator, for example.

Yes, I've likely been played like a pawn years ago thinking FReakRepublic activism was important in getting this country back on the right track. I did enjoy the social aspects of involvement back then and met some very nice folks.

Same here.

I'm tired now

You aren't alone. I had more energy AND enthusiasm back in the 90's. Not as much to do,either.

and am impressed with you grading 40 tons of gravel.

So am I,considering just a couple of years ago I couldn't walk from the house to the car without resting or blacking out.

With what?

A shovel and a rake,of course.

AND a 9,000 lb diesel front end loader with a 7 foot wide bucket that will pick 3500 lbs 10 feet off the ground. That's a pretty handy tool to have sitting around. When I go to strip a car I can use the loader bucket to stand it up on it's rear bumper, and then walk under it to unbolt the engine and transmission, and then use it to load the hulk on my trailer to haul to the crusher.

A expensive piece of equipment to buy if you don't use it daily, but since I can't get down on the floor or ground anymore without falling down,it was worth buying so I would have it when I need it.

I USED to be able to do that sort of thing entirely with a shovel and a rake, but those abilities disappeared in the early 90's. I have to work smart now because I can't work hard anymore.

Even with the loader I am impressed with what I did in only 3 days. That's more physical work than I can usually do in a full week. My damn knees are so stiff now from climbing in and out of that loader that I haven't been able to bend my knees far enough to put socks on for the last two day. 3 days if you count today.

It was more than just the gravel. I also had to move 7 cars that don't run with the loader, and move stuff around in the shop to make room for the new air-conditioners and the truck load of lumber I bought to finish out the bathroom and build some shelves.

The good news is I haven't had any trouble sleeping the last few days. I now have trouble staying awake. I had forgotten how good it felt to go to bed physically tired.

With any luck I will get the rest of the cars, engines, and transmissions moved out of the way today to make room for a 10x16 wooden storage building to be moved to the level pad I created, and for the septic tank installer to come in Monday to install a septic tank for my workshop. I already have a full-shower/tub (picture a regular 5 foot long tub with only a 4 inch tall side so you don't have to step so high to get in it,and a seat at each end so you can sit while you are showering. GREAT for people with bad backs and knees) and a 40 gallon hot water heater in place and water running to the shop. It was the lack of a septic tank that kept me from turning the water on.

It's going to be great to not have to stop what I'm doing to run 75 to 125 feet from the shop to the bathroom in the house, and to be able to shower and change clothes before going to the house so I'm not tracking grease and dirt from the shop to the house.

All that gravel spread out there also means I no longer have to worry about tracking mud or dirt from the shop to the house and I don't have to worry about splashing standing water and getting my feet wet, either.

My new air-conditioners came in a couple of days ago,and my new propane furnace is still being built and scheduled to be shipped to me on the 22nd. Which means I'll get it hooked up and running by mid-March,when I won't need it.

At least it will be there ready to go when it gets cold next year.

So by your obtuse spinning, you still won't admit you were wtrong.

I'll tell you what, show me where I said you and Lucysmom were the same poster, and I'll admit I was wrong. If you can't, then you admit you're crazy as f***. Deal?

and I bet you still would like to have me banned from here.

No, if I want you gone, I have a magic button that will do that for me. What I'd really like would be to punch you in the face. :o)

some text

"If men through fear, fraud or mistake, should in terms renounce and give up any essential natural right, the eternal law of reason and the great end of society, would absolutely vacate such renunciation; the right to freedom being the gift of God Almighty, it is not in the power of Man to alienate this gift, and voluntarily become a slave." Samuel Adams, Rights of the Colonists, 1772
