Oliver Stone's mini-series about the history of America focuses entirely on the struggle between the US and Communism. It aired on Showtime,and all episodes have been broadcast. You might want to watch it when it is re-ran to view the stunning blindness,hypocrisy,and outright lies the delusional Stone put to film.
He worships the Kennedy family to the point he may just live up their asses,and the ONLY fault he finds with JFK is that his right-wing advisers gave him bad advise. He even lists JFK as a WW-2 hero who fought bravely,even though he was never in one single battle,and did everything within his power to avoid ever being in one. After PT-109 was sunk the Navy wanted to court-martial him for dereliction of duty and other charges,and his father wanted him to be given a Medal of Honor for falling asleep with no watch on and his boat drifting with a sea anchor and not even running when he was SUPPOSED to be patrolling a strait to ambush Japanese war and cargo ships. In FACT,it was a Japanese destroyer that sank PT-109 by simply running over it while crossing the strait,and they didn't even know they had hit anything. The crew members who died under his command died because of his lack of dedication to duty. They were sleeping below while the boat drifted powerless with nobody on watch.
You also learn that "radical right-wing advisers from the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the CIA" were the ones that caused all the mistakes that nearly led us into a nuclear war,and we were only saved from that nuke exchange by "a brave Soviet Political Officer on a Soviet Sub that refused to allow nuke torpedoes to be launched against the American fleet." Unlike the Soviet fleet who had every right to be there,I guess the capitalistic oppressor fleet was somehow trespassing.
AND....,it was that Saintly old Nikita Khrushchev that was the voice of moderation and reason all during the crisis.
And the whole thing gets worse with every episode right up to the point where the VN war was Nixon's fault.
There is a very good reason this is the "Untold History of the United States". Everything that went bad was Americas fault,and all the saintly communists ever did was try to teach reason to the out of control right-wing racists."
That man should be in a mental institution somewhere.
