Bird was probably young and inexperienced in assessing it's prey. Too many white feathers to be a fully mature adult.

Three students in 3D animation are sure to get a perfect grade after a video depicting an eagle snatching a toddler in a Montreal park went viral and generated discussions around the world.

Normand Archambault, Loïc Mireault and Félix Marquis-Poulin, students at Centre NAD, have come forward to claim responsibility for the overnight sensation.

Fred,I have a serious question. How do we know these students are the ones who actually did it,instead of three teens wanting to claim credit for it?

I read the link and noticed there were no quotes by the school or anybody from the school being interviewed.

And Eagles and hawks WILL attack pets. I've seen it happen. I've seen hawks that are MUCH smaller than a eagle attack and kill full-grown chickens, and they have been known to take away small dogs or puppies, and kittens. Hawks mostly avoid fully-grown cats because sometimes the cats eat them. I had a 7 pound female cat sucker a hawk into coming down after her,and just as he got to her she spun around and snatched him out of the air and had herself a little hawk dinner. I just happened to be looking out the window and saw this happen.

I think that hawk may have gotten one of her kittens and this pissed her off.

BTW,that same cat killed one of my father's chickens too,and I blamed that one on a hawk. I had just gone out to the shop to feed the cat and her kittens some meaty cat food, and the mother cat just happened to be in the shop at the same time. That old hen stayed in the shop and would follow you around the yard as protection from the hawks. She was smart enough to understand there would be no attacks as long as she stayed close to a human.

Anyway, the old hen was pretty pushy. I'd go in there at night when I was building my knucklehead Harley, and there were times when she would get pissed at the lights and the music while she was trying to roost, and she would come over and start pecking at me to try to run me off. I admired her spirit,so I let her get away with it.

After the cat had her kittens the hen got into the habit of joining the kittens when I fed them, and pecking them on the head if she thought they were too close to her. That worked fine until the day the old mother cat decided to join in with the eating, and the hen made the mistake of pecking HER on the forehead. That was the end of that hen. That little female cat took no crap off man nor beast. I had to drag her off the head of one of my fathers friends one day when he came into the house and made the mistake of swatting at her to chase her out of a chair he wanted to set in. She ran straight up his arm and was tapdancing all over his head before I could get her off. After I closed her up in my bedroom to give her time to calm down and then let her out again, the first thing she did was run to the chair and start dancing around it on her tiptoes while growling at him and arching her back while looking for a opening. She was still pissed, and determined to chase him out of that chair.

He not only never tried that again, but for the first time in his life he would knock on the door before coming in the house, and would refuse to come in until I'd lock the cat in the bathroom or my bedroom.

You couldn't hurt her, either. She wasn't MY pet cat. She was my Doberman's pet cat. She followed my Doberman home one day and just stayed. Bad things would happen to you if the Dobie caught you hurting what she thought was her ugly puppy.

I used to warn people,"Don't worry about the Doberman, worry about that damn cat! If she starts to growl at you, stop whatever it is you are doing right NOW because that's all the warning you are going to get."

Thanks for sharing your interesting animal adventures.

I used to hate cats but about a month ago a stray was hanging around my front porch. I put a small bowl of milk on the porch for her and refilled it in the afternoon. A week or two later I bought a small bag of dry cat food and fed that cat every morning around 8 a.m. I wouldn't let her in my house and I doubt she'd want to come in anyway. I was heading out to the west coast for my brother's (third) wedding for and would be gone for about 5 days - I fed the cat before I departed that day and was a bit worried about how she'd be when I returned. I returned on a Tuesday about noon and she was sitting on my porch when I pulled in my driveway, something I'd expect a dog to do. I fed her as soon as got my car unloaded, not know if she was hungry or not - she was.

The next day we continued our 8 a.m. feeding routine and she was there like clockwork for the next two days. The third day she wasn't there and I later found out that she had been run over by a car next to a mailbox about two hundred yards from my home on an adjacent street, dead. I'm reluctant to get another pet for these very reasons. The End.

Epilogue: That cat skeedaddled whenever we first met each other. Then she'd meow at me. When she got closer knowing the food was coming she'd both meow and hiss at me like a wild animal. I never tried to pet her and maybe I would have eventually had she hung around a bit longer.

My cat now lives at my neighbor's.

I recently moved to a new location and it seems that my cute little girl frequented the neighbor's backyard because she was attracted to the song birds there. The neighbor then started feeding the kitty treats she feeds her other cats (supposedly to keep her from stalking the birds) and now my kitty won't come home.

When I asked my vet about this he said many kitty treats act like narcotics and it will be very difficult to get her back as long as the neighbor feeds her that addicting stuff. Moral: I'm feeding kitty treats to my next cat.

I'm reluctant to get another pet for these very reasons. The End.

There is no way I am ever going to own another dog after having to deal with my dobie dying. I loved her like the Pope loves Jesus.

Having said that,if you have a cat and want to keep him or her living, keep them inside the house. ESPECIALLY at night. Cats get into a LOT of trouble at night.

Even if they do live a few years being outside cats, kitty litter is a hell of a lot cheaper than vet bills.

Epilogue: That cat skeedaddled whenever we first met each other. Then she'd meow at me. When she got closer knowing the food was coming she'd both meow and hiss at me like a wild animal. I never tried to pet her and maybe I would have eventually had she hung around a bit longer.

Probably not. Maybe 6 years ago I had a stray tom cat just move into my workshop one day. I had left the entrance door open while working on a tractor, and he just went in and refused to leave. I left both garage doors open each day for 4 days while I was out there working, and he flat refused to leave even though I wasn't giving him any food or water. On the 4th day I said to hell with it,and put out food, water, and a litter box. This was in November. Took him maybe a month to quit hiding when I came in,and two more months of slipping up close to see what I was doing, and staring at me. If I made a move towards him he would run under a car and hide. One day when I was sitting on a bench taking a break,he just jumped up into my lap and started purring. I almost had to smack him around to make him leave me alone after that. I'd be bent over under a hood, and the next thing I would know he would be sitting on my back and looking over my shoulder. Never seen such a affectionate cat,and somebody just dumped him out on this island to make it on his own.

I guess it was probably late the following March and it got warm enough for me to raise the garage door and put the screen door in place to let a little air in there while keeping the snakes out.

The second day I did this I spotted a black and white Tuxedo cat sitting on one side of the screen door "talking" to the tom cat sitting inside. I had been catching glances of her around the edge of the yard for a few months, but she never got close. Worked in the shop for a couple of hours and then took a break inside the house. When I walked back to the shop I spotted a cat-sized hole in my screen door, and thought "DAMN! That tom has busted though my screen door to get with that female! Imagine my surprise when I went in the shop and discovered SHE had torn a hole in the screen door to get inside and be with him.

Damndest thing I have ever seen. She is never more than 10 feet from him. From the very first day she was in there when he jumped up on my lap,I could look over and spot her sitting in the floor watching us both, and when she saw me looking at her she would hiss and growl/whine at me.

Here it is 5 years later and she just started letting me touch her. She even purrs sometimes. Sometimes she forgets, and hisses/growl again.

BTW,to show how universal some things are,the tom cat used to jump up on the roof of my "office" built inside the shop to get away from her. It took her a while to figure out how to get up there, but she finally did,and there she would be sitting, right next to him. I moved stuff to keep them off there because I didn't want them jumping 9 feet to a cement floor. A short while later I left a ladder leaning against the office wall, and damned if the tom didn't figure out how to climb the ladder to get away from his old lady. She never could work up the courage to try to climb the ladder,so she would pace around on the floor below where he was chillin',and whine. I finally had to move the ladder because I was afraid she would get hurt trying to climb it.

Never heard of or seen cats acting like this before.

BTW,these two cats earn their living killing and eating any mice that get into the shop, and even more importantly, killing at least two cottonmouth moccasins that somehow go in there. They ate the one about 3 feet long, but cats being cats, they just bit the head off the one about 8 inches long and left him right in my path to step on after walking through the door. And I did.

I had just bought another 4 lbs. package of dry cat food a day before she expired, so I'll keep my eye out for hungry cats.

BTW,be VERY careful about feeding cats the cat food that says "hairball control". I had two cats die because they got so constipated from eating the hairball control dry food that it poisoned their blood. You can get some greasy hairball remedy stuff at the grocery stores that helps them pass the hair when they take a dump, but some cats have no problem with this and some others do. Take notice of the litter box every day to make sure your cat uses it at least once. If not,go for the greasy hair ball remedy stuff. If that doesn't work within a couple of days,go to the vet immediately.

All my cats are strays that some aholes dropped off on the island to fend for themselves. One was a pregnant female that was almost blind, and would run from grasshoppers jumping in the grass because she didn't know what they were.

I had one cat live 17 years, and one live for 19 years eating the regular formula Purina Cat Chow dry food. They like it so much I call it "Kitty Krack".

Stay away from Hartz Mountain flea and tick treatments, too. That killed one of my cats summer before last. It also killed several other cats according to the vet. She told me she and the other vets she knew had contacted Hartz Mountain about this, and they always claimed it was the first they had heard of it.

For one cat,buy the 2+ lb bags of regular Purina Cat Chow. I think they are 2.5 lbs,and cost $3.97 at the grocery store. Buy the big bags and the stuff starts going stale before the cat eats half of a 4 lb bag.

I didn't,but you have to when you take them to the vet. Not that it really makes any difference because cats only come to you when they want to.

Do you give these strays names? Do you talk to them?

Sure. Like everybody else, they don't listen or care what I say,so what harm does it do?

They talk to me,too. I don't listen any better than they do

Cats are actually pretty cool pets. They don't bark of make much noise,it doesn't cost much to feed them, they catch and eat anything that comes into the house or the workshop, and you can put out a weeks worth of food, water, and kitty litter, and take a trip of you want and not worry about them. You can't do that with a dog.
