If so called "airport security" hadn't disarmed most of the passengers & crew on those flights, things might have turned out a lot less tragically on 9/11. The government solution... more of the same failed policies. The TSA was invented to grope passengers, the DHS to spy on everyone and make us less free, the patriot act, and now NDAA where they can just disappear people with no trial or due process of law.

So called "first responders" often take 20 minutes or more to get there. Joe or Jane Sixpack citizen carrying a gun is a better bet to deal with psycho's before they rack up a large body count. Because they're actually THERE where they can do some good. IMO

End the gun-free killing zones.

Kahlberg: Why There Are No School Shootings In Israel

December 17, 2012 By Marc Kahlberg

With yet another terrible tragedy at a U.S. school, perhaps it is time we energize and educate the public on how these crazy shootings can be prevented.

A “head in the sand” citizenry must be a thing of the past. There is no other way to deal with these violent tragedies but to adopt a method similar to what Israel uses when thwarting terror. That is to share and use information about people by simply being aware and alert.

Since the Columbine tragedy in 1999, many theories and tactics have emerged on how U.S. law enforcement should respond to such incidents. But the only tactic that was ever discussed or implemented was a reactive one, where officers considered mostly military tactics.

Time has passed, and as we saw with the senseless murder of innocent children last week, the problem has not been solved. It is seemingly getting worse. The slaughter of these innocents in what is supposed to be a safe environment of a school reminds us once again that schools need to do more to protect the safety of the children in their care.

This is not about reaction. It is about prevention. It is about proactive intelligence methods that every police department in the Western world should implement, as they do in every other aspect of classic policing.

Israeli law requires that an armed security guard be on duty at all times in all educational environments. No person can enter a protected school without being physically checked. Most Israelis have had military training, so in a school environment, there are people who have weapons and know how to use them to defeat an attacker. They also have the tools to question any visitor in a way where a simple set of questions will in most cases allow them to determine a good or bad intent.

Weapons alone in the hands of school security officials or teachers will never prevent an attack, but they may certainly delay it from escalating, ending it far more quickly than simply waiting for the nearest police backup to arrive at the scene. But intense training and coordination is required.

Access should be strictly limited, perimeters should be protected with cameras monitored while students are on the property, and as in Israel, no strangers or people without good reason to be on campus should be allowed into any school.

Access control should include searches and the use of technology such as metal detectors, like those used when entering a government building.

Protecting schools and training their personnel to prevent and respond to attacks should be a priority in all educational systems around the world.

Our future is dependent on keeping our next generation safe, especially at school, and whether the school borders are physical or virtual, the community’s help in providing information and intelligence is vital to ensuring a safe community and protecting the future generations to come.

Reaction is simply not good enough.

Israel itself is a militarized zone. I guess that's what you gun nut fundies want here.

But i think that Mcgowanjm had it right today. Create a rat race, speed it up and speed it, until many can no longer keep upand become frustrated, add guns and then just stand back. And no one cares to change it one iota, least of all you fundy gun lackies.

How's your horse? Have you ever had one shot by idiots with guns out joy riding just looking for something to kill?

Here's what happened to one my cousin had. Two white guys in their early twenties with a pistol decided to have some fun with her horse. They shot the horse five times, just so the horse was unable to run away and then they went after it's head with a board with a nail on it. Until it was missing an eye, had a broken jaw and knocked out the front teeth. Then they left it bleeding and dying, but not before they were spotted by neighbors and ran off.

The horse actually survived after massive vet bills and a bout with tetanus although it was only good for being a broodmare. The guys were never apprehended.

Let's see...the U.S. has troops in 140 countries, two ongoing military blunders, a $700 billion dollar military budget - greater than all other nations combined, more guns per capita than any other country in the world, a mentally unstable population overdosed on junk food and junk culture, PTSD veterans who are homeless but happen to be very proficient with machine guns, roughly several hundred thousand fully automatic weapons floating around in god knows whose hands, the most paranoid anti-government demented hillbillies you will ever meet, and now an economy teetering on depression with a middle class income already falling into the abyss. You don't have to be a fucking genius to see where all of this is heading

They've had their shot at pathetic attempts to keep our children safe, and every time, what the hell is their answer? It's to disarm millions of innocent Americans who have never commited any crimes.

This government, your government, their way of dealing with a deadly situation, mcgowanjm? If you go by their usual habits, their usual process is party, party, party, vacations, spend, spend, spend, eat, drink and be merry all night, all day...until something happens, then hide, isolate, remove the media, make prohibitions, make excuses, threaten innocent citizens with disarmament, send press releases, make compensations, bury the bodies, then go back to eating and drinking until the next situation. Their way of dealing with things isn’t much more noble than a murderer’s, except our government is better at creating more victims for the murderers, than protecting the innocent.

It's time to face the facts, your big government social engineering experiments have been a disaster. The new deal, great society, nanny state meddling in everything from shower heads to automobiles, to what shrubs you can have in your yard. The more problems gov creates, the worse things get.

They created gun-free kill zones, and then progressive retards wonder why psycho's choose them to kill? DUH, it's safer for criminals there!

Your denialist disinformation efforts have failed. No one is buying that BS anymore.

It's not the gun's fault! Maybe they just watched Keith Olbermann foaming at the mouth? Or Ed Shultz, or Rachael Maddcow.

In their drug induced haze, the horse might have looked like Rush Limbaugh.

So what good could banning hi-caps and assault weapons possibly do? They didn't use either in this incident. It would make more sense to ban MSLSD, not that I'm in favor of that either.

If they didn't have a gun, they might have used a bow and arrow, or other weapons. Would you be happy then?

The problem is the deranged individuals that the education system is pumping out, not the tools that they use to commit horrifying deeds like this. The largest unions in California are... teachers and correctional officers. The kids just flow in the pipeline from school to jail.

On the CT School Shooting: Just Remember, Israeli Schools Are Protected With GUNS

How long will it take for gun-grabbing opportunists to predictably step on these shattered lives and call for more gun control? And the answer to that is the usual–not long at all.

How Many Sandy Hook Elementary School Kids Might Have Been Saved If A Teacher Had a Gun?

A Michigan law that is working its way through the legislature to allow Concealed Pistol License (CPL) holders to bring guns into schools (with a few hours of additional training by the CPL holder) may now be held up because gun- grabbers will use this tragic incident as an argument against it. And, essentially, they will compare innocent, law-abiding, trained gun owners to this crazy person who shot up the kids today.

Schools need more guns in the hands of law-abiding adults, not less. In Israel, there are armed security guards at schools. And despite the fact that Israel is surrounded by those who would destroy it, despite the fact that there are rocket and other terrorist attacks against Israelis every single day, the kids at Israeli schools are very safe. The only times when they’ve been killed is when there were no guns around, as with the Merkaz HaRav Yeshivah, where students were shot up and murdered by two Islamic terrorists in 2008. (They were finally stopped by guns.)

Because schools are guarded by armed guards in Israel, students at schools there have a much greater chance of being attacked and/or killed in a bus bomb on the way to or from school than when they are in their classrooms. And while in their classrooms, the greatest threat is a HAMAS rocket, not a crazy armed gunman like the one at Sandy Hook Elementary today.

Despite that, those of us who support a strong Second Amendment and the right to keep and bear arms are constantly mocked by the left, especially those on the left who live in gated communities and have fancy alarm systems, armed bodyguards, and other security. They mock people like Rep. Frank Lasee of Wisconsin who, in 2006, (MSMBC) introduced legislation in Wisconsin to arm teachers.

“To make our schools safe for our students to learn, all options should be on the table,” he said. “Israel and Thailand have well-trained teachers carrying weapons and keeping their children safe from harm. It can work in Wisconsin.”

In Thailand, where officials have been waging a bloody fight with Muslim separatists for the last two years, some teachers carry weapons for self defense as they are viewed as part of the government. In Israel, teachers are not allowed to carry weapons in the school, but security guards at the entrances are armed.

The fact remains that law abiding citizens with guns stop malefactors with guns, unless, as with today’s shooter, the gunman commits suicide. Remember how Islamic terrorist Nidal Malik Hasan was stopped from taking more than 13 lives at Fort Hood? Others with guns on the base shot him. How many lives might have been saved today if a teacher had a gun? How many lives might have been saved at Virginia Tech because a student had a gun?

The best gun control is to have a gun. It’s the only thing that will stop someone else from killing you.

If you want to infringe upon my Second Amendment rights, it means you want to take my First and latter Amendment rights, too.

We have got to allow Concealed Pistol License (CPL) holders to bring guns into our schools, trained adults (teachers, security, faculty members) with hours of additional training by the CPL holder, adults who have had complete background checks and mental evaluations, stricter surveillance and admittance. Gun- grabbers in every deadly massacre for decades have always used the same lame answer, "disarm the public". In every tragic school shooting, the best they can come up with is, to compare innocent, law-abiding, trained gun owners to these crazy people who terrorize and murder our children.

Gun grabbers (the ignorant public) are the epitome of an 'Insane' person, doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results, Governments on the other hand, have their own nafarious reasons. ~ Murron JMHO!
