Dem. lawmaker: To get gun control, Obama must ‘exploit’ shooting Comments (1) Size: + / - Print A veteran Democratic lawmaker believes the nation will go along with stronger gun control laws if President Obama “exploits” the Newtown, Conn., tragedy and nudges Congress to action. Rep. Jerrold Nadler, who represents portions of New York City, said he was encouraged by Mr. Obama’s statement on Friday afternoon that the mass shooting, which claimed the lives of 20 young children, requires “meaningful action” by Congress, but hopes those words turn into concrete legislation. “These incidents, these horrible, horrible incidents … are happening more and more frequently. And they will continue to happen more and more frequently until someone with the bully pulpit, and that means the president, takes leadership and pushes Congress,” Mr. Nadler said during an appearance on MSNBC’s “The Ed Show” with Ed Schultz. Mr. Nadler was asked whether the Newtown tragedy could be the turning point in many Democrats’ longstanding struggle to enact stronger gun laws. “I think we will be there if the president exploits it, and otherwise we’ll go on to the next” incident, Mr. Nadler said. Mr. Nadler joins New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, American Federation of Teachers President Randi Weingarten and others who quickly turned their attention to gun control laws in the hours following Friday’s shooting, one of the worst campus massacres in U.S. history.

But a Marine official here raised questions about whether the children were “innocent.” Before calling for the M142 High Mobility Artillery Rocket System mission in mid-October, Marines observed the children digging a hole in a dirt road in Nawa district, the official said, and the Taliban may have recruited the children to carry out the mission. Shockingly, the article quotes a senior officer saying that the military isn’t just out to bomb “military age males,” anymore, but kids, too: “It kind of opens our aperture,” said Army Lt. Col. Marion “Ced” Carrington, whose unit, 1st Battalion, 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment, was assisting the Afghan police. “In addition to looking for military-age males, it’s looking for children with potential hostile intent.”
Bloomberg is already flapping his lips about gun control and Obama will be soon.
flapping his lips about gun control It's the usual suspects, Michael Moore, Bloomturd, Peirs Morgan the brit, Rupert Murdoch the ausie, Shmucky Shulmer, and the like. Fox News, Murdoch's idea to ban automatic weapons seems like the dumbest of the bunch, no small accomplishment in that company. When was the last time someone was killed with a full-auto weapon? I believe that the Australian ban has been a tragedy, like every other disarmament attempt in history. The UK is a bloody mess, so Piers is clueless as well. I suppose that a White House petition to deport them both as well as George Soros, would be futile?
