COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) Officials with the U.S.-led military coalition say an American doctor abducted by the Taliban has been rescued in eastern Afghanistan. Dr. Dilip Joseph, of Colorado Springs, was captured by Taliban insurgents Wednesday outside the Afghan capital, in the Sarobi district of Kabul province. Coalition leaders say he was rescued early Sunday in Afghanistan after intelligence showed he was in imminent danger of injury or possible death.
Joseph, a medical adviser for Colorado Springs-based Morning Star Development, was reported to be uninjured, the nonprofit said in a statement. The group also says two of his co-workers, whose names havent been released, were freed by their captors about 11 hours before the rescue.
Morning Stars website says the group helps rebuild communities in Afghanistan.
