I am a lifelong, proud Democrat. But, even though I have a lot of friends who are Republicans, I’m glad I’m not a member of today’s Republican Party. Because today’s Republican Party is just too damned mean. Just look what they did to Bob Dole yesterday. Over the years, Dole’s one of the Republicans I’ve admired the most and grown close to. He’s an American war hero. He’s a true patriot. He was an outstanding senator from Kansas. He was a very fair and effective majority leader of the Senate. He’s a wonderful, warm, funny human being. But what his fellow Republicans did to him yesterday is shameful. As one who triumphed over his own war injuries, Bob Dole has long championed the rights of the disabled. Yesterday, fresh out of Walter Reed Hospital, he came to the Senate in his wheelchair to seek the support of his fellow Republicans for the United Nations Disabilities Treaty — which would not make any changes to American law, but merely encourage other nations to grant disabled persons the same opportunities they enjoy here in the United States. One by one, his Republican colleagues walked up to shake his hand — and then stabbed him in the back. Only eight Republicans joined all Senate Democrats in voting for the treaty, even though it’s already been endorsed by 155 other nations. Opponents argued that endorsing the treaty would undermine national security, thereby branding Sen. Dole as some kind of traitor or terrorist. In the fiscal cliff negotiations, by refusing to raise tax rates on the top 2 percent, Republicans already proved they don’t care about the middle class. Yesterday, by embarrassing and repudiating Bob Dole, today’s Republicans proved they don’t care about the disabled, either.

Thank goodness they didn't put party over nation. Seems as though one of the little goodies tucked away in this treaty was the requirement that children with disabilities be immediately registered at birth in some register of defectives. Just another tool to keep track of who gubmint can eliminate to beoome a little more 'cost efficient'.
The reason certainly can't be that disabled children who get help at an early age tend to be able to function at a higher level? So trying to keep them from falling between the cracks just might be in their best interests. After all the ultimate goal in life IS to become a productive citizen.

I see your point, but that is what parents are for. I assure you, parents with kids with disabilities fight to get them all the help they need to able to function at the highest levels.

I publicly repudiated Bob Dole when he ran for President in 1996. Thank god for Jim Demint, Rand Paul, Mike Lee, and a few others...

My wife is one of the most magnificent people I've ever met. She is an immigrant running a very successful business. Parents are lined up to get their kids into her daycare. You on other hand are a lazy nigger who collects welfare checks and sits around all day posting articles about why you need more welfare. These are called facts.
Do you really, honestly, believe that government cares about the inividual? I mean, really, really, really gives a damn...
I believe the majority of parents seek only the best for their kids; however, there are a great many parents, and this number seems to grow daily, that are too 'me, me, me' to care much about their kids.
Do you honestly think it doesn't consist of We the People? And who do you think really, really gives a damn about individuals...Corporations? Don't make me laugh.

Individuals care for individuals, silly. Whatever gave you the idea I would even consider 'corporations'? as somehow caring. "We the People" went the way of the gooney bird a long time ago.
