Now that the 2012 election is over, time to think about 2016. At least one polling firm thinks so. The first polls of the next presidential race, by the Democratic-leaning Public Policy Polling, found Secretary of State Hillary Clinton as the Democrats’ favorite in the first two states on the political calendar, Iowa and New Hampshire. Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee led among Republicans in Iowa, while New Jersey Governor Chris Christie was the preference among Republicans in New Hampshire. Even before the final ballots of 2012 are counted and Florida’s 29 electoral votes are officially awarded to President Barack Obama, PPP looked ahead four years from now and found 58 percent of Iowa Democrats and 60 percent of New Hampshire Democrats preferring Clinton, who unsuccessfully sought her party’s nomination in 2008 and lost to Obama. Vice President Joe Biden was the runner-up among Democrats, with 17 percent in Iowa and with 10 percent in New Hampshire. On the Republican side, Huckabee polled 15 percent in Iowa. Christie, 2012 vice- presidential nominee Paul Ryan and Florida Senator Marco Rubio tied for second, with 12 percent. Christie led in New Hampshire with 21 percent, while Rubio was second with 14 percent. The surveys were taken Nov. 3-4, even while other pollsters still were asking likely voters about their presidential preferences this year. PPP is an automated poll, meaning it cannot call cell phones and does not know who is pressing the response buttons on the other end of the landline. Even so, it called eight of the nine swing states in 2012, missing only in its home state of North Carolina when the Raleigh-based firm forecast a tie rather than the eventual win by Republican nominee Mitt Romney.

Here's a few things: 1) George P. Bush might be a hunkalicious young Republican, but he still seems a bit creepy. So TSG wasn't too surprised to learn that "P" was involved ina troubling 1994 incident described in this Metro-Dade Police Department report. On December 31, 1994, Bushs howed up at 4 AM at the Miami home of a former girlfriend. He proceeded to break into the house via the woman's bedroom window, and then began arguing with his ex's father. Bush, then a Rice University student, soon fled the scene. But he returned 20 minutes later to drive his Ford Explorer across the home's front lawn, leaving wide swaths of burned grass in his wake. They were all scrambling to find funds to pay their tabs and trips back home since Rmoney cancelled the campaign credit cards shortly after the race was called. And they continue to tell us what a 'class-act' he is...

It is not easy reconstructing 'molded minds'... The GOP almost always nominates the guy who came in second in the primaries last time. But, in 2016 I just can't image the GOP nominating Rick Santorum. I thought he candidacy this year was a bad joke. It's way too early to predict ;), but 2016 could be a repeat of 1992 -- (Hilary) Clinton vs. (Jeb) Bush. I hope to god not. American doesn't need any more political dynasties. But it very well could be. I'd like to see some of the younger GOP governors in the fray - Bobby Jindal, Nikki Haley, Susana Martinez.
IMO, it is Hillary's...if she wants it. She would retain all the minority vote and pull in an even larger segment of the woman vote.
It is not easy reconstructing 'molded minds'... I completely agree. It's her nomination if she wants it. My view is that she is leaving the State Department because she wants it.
