Gallup will not conduct its daily tracking survey for the second night in a row as a result of superstorm Sandy, the polling firm announced Tuesday. “Gallup will not conduct daily tracking surveys for a second night, Tuesday, Oct. 30, due to the ongoing effects of superstorm Sandy and will continue to reassess the situation on a day-to-day basis,” read a statement from the organization. “Gallup will provide an update on Wednesday about plans from that point forward.” Gallup editor-in-chief Frank Newport issued a statement on Monday saying that the firm’s ability to conduct polling over the next several days will depend, in part, on the outcome of Sandy. “Gallup has suspended polling for its daily tracking as of Monday night and will reassess on a day-to-day basis,” Newport wrote. “The ultimate effect on the overall picture of polling between now and this weekend, including election polling, will depend on what happens as a result of the storm, about which we will have a better understanding of on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week.”
