Meat Loaf was on the menu at a Romney campaign rally in Defiance, Ohio, Thursday night.
The musician — not the meal — shouted, sang and sweat for Romney in a vigorous performance that quickly went viral.
The highlight was a spirited, if not entirely tuneful, rendition of “America the Beautiful,” joined by Randy Owen of the band Alabama, John Rich of Lonestar and the GOP candidate himself.
At the end of his own set, Meat Loaf — born Michael Lee Aday — ordered the crowd to sing Romney’s praises with their neighbors, family and friends.
“I know there's one thing that you've been taught your whole life is that you never argue politics or religion with your friends,” he said. “But 2012 is completely different. I have been arguing for Mitt Romney for a year.”

“I made three phone calls today to Democrats in California and I got two of them to switch to Romney. So ‘two out of three ain't bad!’" he cried in a nod to the title of his hit song.
"So you get out there and you argue with your relatives, you argue with your neighbors, you get in fights over politics and religion because we need Ohio!"
"God bless ya, we love ya, thank you, keep rocking and Mitt Romney!" he shouted.
According to Politico, Meat Loaf also dipped into foreign policy issues during his endorsement of the candidate.
He was particularly critical of President Obama for saying the Cold War is over.
"I have never heard such a thing in my life," Politico quoted Meat Loaf as saying. "The man needs to understand [Vladimir] Putin and Russia."
He said the 2012 election is the most important of his lifetime “because there has (sic) storm clouds come over the United States. There is (sic) thunder storms over Europe. There are hail storms — and I mean major hail storms! — in the Middle East. There are storms brewing through China, through Asia, through everywhere.”
He also defended Romney’s running mate over Democratic attacks that he wants to gut Medicare.
"I am 65 years old standing up here tonight in front of you. And I want you to know at 65 that Paul Ryan has not pushed me off the cliff in a wheelchair,” Meat Loaf said, according to Politico.
After the "Bat Out of Hell" singer's creative rendition of "America the Beautiful" went viral on Friday, TMZ.com cornered Sen. John McCain to get his take on the performance.
After saying Meat Loaf "kind of messed up the song," the TMZ videographer asked if the campaign "should change up the song sometimes?"
"Change the song or have someone who knows the words?" McCain said, before shaking his head disapprovingly.
But Romney, for one, returned the rocker’s praise when he took the stage in Ohio on Thursday night.
“Now I have to tell you I don't recall having so much fun in such a long time as to be able to listen to these guys this evening," Romney told the crowd, Politico said. "I mean, Meat Loaf was here! Can you believe it?"
The rocker was joined by Randy Owen of the band Alabama, John Rich of Lonestar and Mitt Romney himself in a spirited, if not entirely tuneful, rendition of 'America the Beautiful.'
