This is a 48 minute youtube clip of actual people and events that describes one of the missions Special Forces troops took on successfully during the VN War,and it highlights the differences in training and mission goals between US Army Special Forces and "Special Operations Forces".
Unlike Special Operations Forces,Special Forces go in before anybody else, and live with, work with, train, and lead local forces into battle against our enemies.
Remember the guy at the start of the war in Afghanistan that was leading a Nortern Alliance calvary attack on a Taliban outpost while riding a white stallion? He was a Special Forces NCO,and he and his team were in Afghanistan and working with the Northern Alliance tribes within a week of the attacks on 9- 11.
btw, some of that film footage is from the very early days, going all the way back to the late 50's and early 60's.
Any film footage you see where the SF guys are wearing white name tags and yellow stripes are pre-1965 or 1966.
So are most of the ones where you see the yards and nungs carrying M-1 carbines,Garands, and BAR's. If you see a photo or video of a SF soldier with a white name tag and yellow stripes on his sleeves that is carrying a M-1 carbine or a M-3 grease gun (short tubular 45 ACP submachinegun) ,that's pre-1964.

Thanks. I knew a SGM that served with him in Korea, and he said Plumley was exactly as he was portrayed in the movie in real life. Didn't have much use for bullshit because it got in the way of running HIS army.
As for Aloha Ronnie,I think of him sometimes and wonder what happened to him after I left FR. He was one of the very few nice guys left there when I left.
BTW,he was the Colonel's radio operator at the LZ. It was his first time in a battle, and he was 17 years old.

No offense, but I probably should have quit watching after 15 minutes...it was a bit tedious. The other observation is that they interviewed old timers (Americans), but not a single native...that would have been nice.
But thank you for sharing this.
At the end they said 65,000 Montagnards died in Vietnam and likely 165,000 died after the war ended...families. About 3,000 made it to this country, many in Fayetteville, NC. That's shitty IMO.

Very few could speak English.

Blame the Dim-controlled congress for denying them the political and religious refugee status they gave to everybody else on the freaking planet. The truth is the Dim-controlled Congress hated the yards because so many of them fought against the communists, and that's why they were left on their own.
