Title: Club For Growth To ‘Mixed Bag’ Romney: You’re On Your Own

If Romney hoped well-heeled conservative advocates would come running to his rescue after his remarks about the poor and middle class sent his campaign into a tailspin, he’ll have to look elsewhere.

His right-leaning campaign hasn’t convinced conservatives that he’s one of them, according to Club for Growth president Chris Chocola.

“This may sound strange, but we’re doing nothing to improve his odds,” Chocola said Thursday in Washington at a breakfast roundtable hosted by the Christian Science Monitor. “We’re not really involved in the presidential race. … We didn’t make an endorsement in the Republican primary process, not because we didn’t want to but because there wasn’t a candidate that we thought we could recommend to our members.”

Club for Growth — perhaps more than any other organization on the right — has agggressively supported conservative candidates against incumbent Republicans in an effort to push the GOP toward it’s pro-business, libertarian brand of conservatism. The group’s dissatisfaction with Romney has been well documented.

On Thursday, Chocola told reporters again that Romney troubles conservatives, citing in particular his rhetorical opposition to lax trade rules with China.

“He has potential to exceed expectations,” Chocola said. “[B]ut it’s a mixed bag with Romney, and that’s his problem, is that people don’t really know.”

Chocola added that he didn’t think the now-infamous 47 percent remarks would be a huge drag on Romney or down-ticket candidates.

“I’m not sure it matters that much,” he told reporters. “I really don’t know that the average voters who hasn’t already made up his mind is really thinking about those comments all that much.” Subscribe to *Elections 2012*

They're not convinced that he's America-last, globalist enough for their free-traitor cult?

No one knows which way he'll flip-flop next, is the real problem. He's far too globalist for my liking.

The president also told reporters that in his view the situation in the neighboring Afghanistan will not change for the better in the nearest future, but Russian military presence in the region, both in Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, is a serious factor of stability.

Atambayev told the press that he and Putin did not discuss the US military presence on Kyrgyz territory or the US air base at Bishkek Airport during the summit. As for Kyrgyzstan’s own position, Atambayev said he had repeatedly supported the idea of conversion of the Bishkek base into a civilian air transport hub, and starting from 2014, when the rent agreement with the US expires, it will not be prolonged.

“A civilian airport must be a civilian site,” the president said adding, that he had repeatedly informed the US authorities about these plans. Putin confirmed that he and his Kyrgyz colleague “not only didn’t discuss the US air base, but didn’t even mention it” and stressed that the question of foreign military presence in the country was Kyrgyzstan’s own sovereign right."

the metro sexual version of yukon, just can't STFU,

Speaking of Yuk, notice how many have gone by the wayside here?

"No one can maintain a lie over an extended length of time — not even empires are that powerful. Empires are maintained by illusions; the noxious fiction that the greater good is served by codes of dominance and plunder. Towards empire’s end the populace suffers escalating levels of unease, as the fabric of the collaboratively woven lie begins to unravel.

Embrace, hold close, and dance to the exquisite music of grief that arrives at the end of things. This is an honest, piercing sound. The pain that grief brings to the heart can serve as a compass, set to aid in navigating a wasteland of weltschmerz.

Because we mourn the loss of those things we love, we should never stop grieving over the follies of humankind and the sorrows of the earth. To cease grieving is too give up on love.

By a refusal to grieve, by lapsing into a host of manic evasions, one risks becoming a monster — a being devoid of empathy that, in an attempt to avoid experiencing suffering, will wound, demean, and exploit the things of the world."
