Title: Mother of Dem convention star Castro called Alamo defenders 'drunks,' 'crooks'

The Hispanic Texas mayor whose keynote speech wowed the Democratic National Convention crowd Wednesday night draws political inspiration from his mother – who was a member of a radical civil rights movement and who reportedly thinks the truth behind the Battle of the Alamo is that Texans swiped Mexico’s land.

Maria del Rosario Castro, the mother of San Antonio Mayor Julian Castro, said in 2010 that she grew up being told the battle was “glorious,” only to learn the so-called heroes were really “a bunch of drunks and crooks and slaveholding imperialists who conquered land that didn’t belong to them.”

“But as a little girl I got the message -- we were losers,” she told The New York Times Magazine. “I can truly say that I hate that place and everything it stands for.”

The Alamo, then a sprawling mission for missionaries and American Indian converts, was attacked in February 1836 by Mexican General Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna. Though historical accounts vary, Texans, including famous frontiersman Davy Crockett, fought back for 13 days only to surrender, on March 6.

Maria del Rosario Castro also was a member of the La Raza Unida, a radical movement that defended the civil rights of Mexican-Americans in Texas.

The 37-year-old Hispanic mayor told New York Times Magazine that upon being elected mayor in 2009 he promptly hung in his private office a 1971 La Raza Unida City Council campaign poster that featured his mother.

Neither Castro nor his mother returned calls seeking comment.

Castro’s twin brother, Joaquin, is running for a Texas congressional seat this year.

You attempt to pigeon-hold hondo as an "obamabot" is laughable.

BOTH candidates are corrupt and venal.

When we really need a leader, we're forced to pick between two empty suits.

Which means NOTHING will stop the collapse, no matter which phony "leader" is selected.

Romney is NOT an empty suit. He is a typical successful CEO - non-ideological, trusts our market system, and wants to get things done. Yes, he has clumsily flip-flopped on social issues, but he has done so precisely because he is not a professional politician.

Obama on the other hand was influenced as a child by communists. As a young man, he sought out communists in college to befriend. As an adult, he sat in a black liberation church for 20 years, listening to Jeremiah Wright bash whitey and damn America.

But of course to conspiratorial dimwits, they are exactly the same.

God help us.

Romney is NOT an empty suit.

Sure he is. His one consistent trait is his proclivity to LIE. I could post a plethora of examples, but that's been done so many times (and you're still too STUPID to get it), there's really no point.

He is a typical successful CEO...

Hardly. I known a LOT of CEOs over the years, in large and small corporations. They get to where they are, because they know their shit. Romney is another corrupt scumbag, as documented here and here.

I've provided the links, and it's now YOUR job to refute the two articles I have posted and linked to. Until then, DON'T push your wishful- thinking horse-shit as gospel, you twit.

Yes, he has clumsily flip-flopped on social issues...

Oh, is that the new PC-term for "lying?" Thanks for the laugh- your 'spin' is reaching comedic levels.

...but he has done so precisely because he is not a professional politician.

Uh-HUH. Was he lying then, or is he lying now? WHICH is it? Oh, BTW, this applies to any subject you care to discuss, where mcRomney has LIED. PICK one area he has always stood fast on... JUST ONE.

Obama on the other hand was influenced as a child by communists....

Ah, now we're getting to the heart of the matter. You question motivations. So do I... and both are narcissistic, venal and corrupt. Their motives are different, the end result is the same. Thus, there is no substantive difference, much as you try to 'spin' reality.

But of course to conspiratorial dimwits, they are exactly the same.

Another attempt to belittle your betters. I expected as much.

Unlike you and the other mindless members of your herd, people are waking up to the Kabuki theater that our elections truly are. They recognize that the choices presented are false, that the candidates are corrupt, and the process is rigged.

The video showing the scripted results of the GOP vote (with boner reading off the teleprompter) drove home how corrupt it all really is.

It's one thing to understand it. But it's another thing to actually see the corruption happen...

Your naivete' is amusing.

And in 3 1/2 years, when obamney, has continued on with the same policies and destroyed this country...? I'll be SURE to tell you, "toldja' so." Assuming your empty little life is still continuing, and IF you aren't so broke that you can't afford internet access, and IF you're not too afraid to speak on the internet (Big Brutha' watching, dontcha' know...).

Watch and learn, little sheep. Maybe during the next election cycle- if there IS one- you'll finally understand.

But I'm not holding my breath.

We simply need someone with real business experience to turn this country around and get people back to work. To me there is no other chose.

Since I have NO real choice as to who deserves my vote, I'll be happy to stick with my choices, while you can happily vote for one of the sock-puppets who are going to fuck you up the ass.

Oh, we're screwed alright... I'm just not going to "lay there and take it," like you espouse. If that's your choice, fine and well. I honestly think mcRomney will get elected, but it won't MATTER.

So don't start whining, when the sockpuppet YOU voted for, fucks you over... because I'll just say "told ya' so."

You can thank that bastard Poppy Bush and everybody who has followed him for this. Obummer is just the most recent traitor, and truth to tell,FAR less skilled at treason than those who passed before him. This is one place where a lack of experience and contacts is a positive.

Fair enough.

And for the record, I *do* understand your reasoning, though I disagree with it. Sneaky's right- they've all been interchangeable traitorous BASTARDS ever since bush-I.

I am so God-damned SICK of the bullshit, so tired of the lies and the treason...

And after watching the complete fraud that happened at the gop convention, I'm *done* with them. Nobody from either party will get my vote, EVER again- POTUS down to dog-catcher, it doesn't matter. If I have to, I'll just write in "none of these," and have done with it.

I've been a Ron Paul supporter since I first heard about him back in 2007. I decided I'll write in his name, regardless. And a lot of the pundits said he was outmatched, even without the various dirty-tricks at the different state polls, and at the gop convention. Perhaps that is so; they would have been magnanimous had they played square, and won anyway.

But instead, they exposed their love of power, and their absolute corruption...

And as far as I'm concerned, they're dead. Kinda' like the relative you can't abide, anymore, and refuse to be associated with.

In effect, I'm now a man without a party... I'll be looking into the Libertarian party later, but for now...? I've no time to get deep into such things, between my research, work and family.

Honestly, I hope you're right, and I'm wrong.... God KNOWS, I hope I'm wrong.

But in my heart, I know we're gonna' be betrayed badly, no matter who wins.

I haven't felt this bad about the country since the days of the 2nd worst president in history, jimmy carter. The day reagan destroyed that sob was one of the happiest days in my 66 years.

Romney is by no stretch of the imagination reagan but I pray that he will defeat the WORST president ever obama. Bush the neocon douchebag is running a close third in the worst president contest.

we're forced to pick between two empty suits.

I've picked romney and you guys have picked obama.

What you are doing is engaging in a common disinformation tactic known as a False Dichotomy

A false dichotomy is typically used in an argument to force your opponent into an extreme position -- by making the assumption that there are only two positions.

Examples:

  • "If you don't vote for Romney, you support Obama" - A third alternative is not voting for either of them.
  • "If you vote third-party, you support Obama." - Once again limiting the debate to two choices
  • "If you point out the fact that both parties are corrupt and that neither candidate has earned a vote, you support Obama." -

"if you're not cop, you're little people"

I had a fairly good opinion of Fire Island before watching him pick on my sister on eLPee. Here is a tape of a cop who acts just like GI does on eLPee only in real time.

http://www.drugwar.biz

You can contact me at stgeorgeoutofcontrol@yahoo.com Police are stalking me outside of my home: http://www.thenewspaper.com/news/19/1988.asp BTW, the officer's patrol video and audio is no where to be found. His tape is GONE. Anyone surprised? He's been fired http://us.cnn.com/2007/US/09/21

/madcop.video.ap/index.html This happened just outside of a speed trap town in Missouri called St. George with only a few officers that think they have more power than they really do. According to MO state statutes, this 3rd class city does not have police power outside of their city limits.

http://www.moga.state.mo.us/statutes/C000-099/0850000561.HTM If you know of any statute in MO that gives them general police power outside their town, please email me. The commuter lot is open 24 hours a day and can be confirmed by calling 1-888-Ask-MoDOT.

You can see me pass the officer at :08 seconds as he nearly blocks the road as he sits waiting for the next car without license plate lights to come by. You'll hear this officer tell me he'll make up "9 different charges" including resisting arrest before he has even tried to arrest me.

You'll hear him say how I didn't use my turn signal and I was weaving when the video clearly proves him wrong. I truly thought if I didn't suck up, I would be beaten and maybe killed. The officer's name is Sgt. James Kuehnlein. Please excuse the clicking in the video
