(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Nouri al Maliki appreciated Iran for its hospitality and said: “Iraq is one of the founder countries and I am happy to have this opportunity to discuss the increasing challenges and changes of the world.” “Realizing NAM goals is possible through cooperation and solidarity of member states and we believe that NAM can turn into a pole” he said and added: “NAM should evolve itself with regard to changes in the world and its new goals".
Maliki said: “the Syrian government and its opponents should not get into armed fight in spite of the efforts to prolong this civil war.”
Iraqi PM said: “there should two approaches be considered about this crisis; firstly arming the engaged parties should be stopped, and secondly the parties should try the option of negotiation.” We believe that continuing the armed actions will not solve the issue and we wish success for Kofi Anan’s successor.”
He continued: “our nations are facing with tribal issues to which we should find the appropriate solution.” He emphasized on supporting Palestinian people, and stated: “we condemn Zionists' assaults and believe that peace is achieved just when Palestine’s occupation ends.” At the last part of the speech, he expressed his hopes for establishment of an independent government for Palestine.
