Clint Eastwood's heart may have been in the right place, when he accepted the invitation to speak at the Republican National Convention, Thursday (Aug. 30), but his mind was clearly somewhere else. Possibly at home with his daughters telling a story about "the good old days," because from the sounds of it, that's exactly what he thought he was doing.
Rather than firing up the crowd for Mitt Romney's acceptance speech, Eastwood confused and amused all while his chair (holding an invisible President Obama) taunted him in the distance.
The 82-year-old stopped in the middle of his speech several times, and turned to hold an intimate conversation with the chair, eliciting more nervous laughter from the audience. At one point, he slammed Obama for being a lawyer, apparently forgetting that Romney also went to Harvard Law School.
"I never thought it was a good idea for attorneys to be presidents anyway. I think it's maybe time for, maybe a uh, business man, how about that? A stellar business man. Quote on quote 'a stellar businessman,'" Eastwood rambled.
Although he was met with cheers (again, from utter confusion), veteran news anchor Brian Williams was powerless against the looming awkwardness and broke into a short but heartfelt chuckle just before offering commentary on the speech. "I'm reminded that he starred in The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, and I think people will find parts of all three to talk about," Williams said.
After that speech one thing is clear: Mr. Eastwood has no idea where he is, or what's going on in America.
Also, he looked pretty sleepy.

I even worked with a 100 percent service-connected disabled veteran at the Norfolk Naval Yard back in the 80's that didn't even serve long enough to get out of basic training,yet he was retired from the army as a private. He had a heart attack in basic training and retired on a medical discharge. Served less than a month and never left South Carolina or even shot a rifle. You really are a ignorant fool.

That's true,but it is also true he was still of draft age,and dodged the draft by claiming a old college football injury that never seemed to bother him at any other time. It is also true that other actors his age and even older were volunteering for active duty status as bomber pilots,and in a couple of cases as armor officers in front line tank units.

They are about STATE benefits given as grants to combat veterans. Which has NOTHING to do with how the Veterans Administration works,or how benefits are paid to veterans or what benefits are given to what veterans. The FACT is that a PEACETIME veteran that was permanently injured in a car accident off-base in any state in the union can be granted up to 100 percent disability from the accident,and receive the SAME benefits in pay and care that a combat veteran in wartime gets from being 100 percent disabled. That IS the law.

Why ask me? YOU are the one that brought his up. What I KNOW is that the Veterans Administration has no such designation. The VA DOES distinguish between service-connected claims and non-service- connected claims,though. Vets get paid compensation for and give free medical treatment for service-connected injuries or illnesses,and people with non- service-connected illnesses or injuries don't receive free medical treatment. Yes,they are treated at VA Hospitals,but the VA sends their insurance company or Medicaid the bill. AND.....here is the important part,so pay attention,....a veteran can have a service-connected illness or injury that never heard a shot fired and got injured or sick while at the 2 week summer training camp for reserve or national guard troops. It only matters that you were on active duty at the time,NOT where you were.

I'm in the VA system and I'm here to tell you it is underfunded and overwhelmed. It is just going to get worse with the vets coming back, way way worse if Willard gets into the WH and turns the neocon lice on his coat tails lose on the world with our war machine.

Of course. He isn't the ideal candidate but he can hopefully do some good for the economy. You have to admit that Obama has been a terrible President. The debt needs to be cut and maybe Romney can do that. That would at least help a little bit. I think Romney was raised here and loves this country. Even if you think Obama was born here his formative years were in foreign countries. He doesn't think like a typical American and I honestly think he is hostile towards us.
