The campaign to re-elect President Barack Obama released a new ad this morning attacking presumptive Republican presidential nominee Gov. Mitt Romney (R-MA)’s record on issues pertaining to women’s reproductive health.
The 30 second TV and web ad features women discussing their concern that Romney, a devout Moron who has firmly stated his opposition to abortion rights, is “out of touch” and just doesn’t connect with or understand issues affecting women and their medical and reproductive choices.
“This is not the 1950s,” said one woman, “Contraception is so important to a woman. It’s about being able to make decisions.”
“I don’t remember anyone as extreme as Romney,” said another, before the ad rolled footage of Romney announcing his intentions to “cut off funding to Planned Parenthood.”
“I don’t think Mitt Romney can even understand the mindset of someone who has to go to Planned Parenthood,” said the first woman.
The ad seeks to capitalize on the growing gender gap in supporters of Romney and the president. According to a Quinnipiac University/CBS News/New York Times poll released Wednesday, Obama leads Romney by more than 20 points among women in Ohio and Pennsylvania, two key swing states.
Buzzfeed quotes Romney spokesperson Andrea Saul as calling the ad “false” and “dishonest,” and accused the president and his team from trying to “distract from the effects of the president’s failed policies.”
