Opinions/Editorials Title: Stand To Post! Stand To Post! Written on Friday, July 6, 2012 by Chris Skates Earlier this year I had an idea. Though I am not an actor and have virtually no experience in that arena, I decided I wanted to play the part of a founder of our nation for the 4th of July. I did so yesterday during Holiday festivities at my church. I chose Ben Franklin and his inspiring Prayer speech to the Constitutional Convention. And if I do say so myself, I nailed the part. (That is with the exception of my very bad looking wig.) Here is what I didnt know when I agreed to play this part several weeks ago. I didnt know what the state of the Republic would be on July 4th, 2012. I didnt know that John Roberts, with the stroke of his awful pen, would do damage that neither the Redcoats, nor the Kaiser, nor Hitler, nor Khrushchev, were able to do. The men who lost limbs to frost bite at Valley Forge and the boys who washed up in the red tide on D-Day paid a dear price to uphold barriers between governments and the people. Roberts and the Court leveled them in less than a week. Just like that, according to the White House and this court, states no longer have the sovereign right to protect their citizens from non-citizens. With just the flicker of a black robed wrist, the Congress can, and now will, levy whatever tax they choose in order to prevent or encourage any behavior that they demand. So it was with a particularly heavy heart that I memorized the lines that Franklin spoke so long ago. I couldnt be inspired by them, for mourning over how we have abandoned them. I couldnt draw comfort from the greatness of the men that built this nation, because my heart was breaking over how lesser men are now actively and aggressively tearing it down. Though it was not a part of the speech I prepared, Franklin was not kidding when he said at the signing of the Declaration, We must all hang together, or assuredly we will all hang separately. He said that because the risk the founders were taking was so great. The odds against them were incredibly long. Now we as Patriots find ourselves suddenly in a situation equally desperate. It does not matter that guns have not been turned on us, it does not matter that physical violence is not yet threatened. Through the power of a now all powerful state, economically, culturally, educationally, and religiously, we must all hang together, for we are in the process of being hanged separately. The health care bill will economically strangle us. Our nations ridiculous, pagan influenced energy policy will stifle us. And the ever encroaching tentacles of homosexual marriage specifically and Hollywood induced cultural rot generally, will desecrate our Holy altars. That is unless we as Americans change. We the people must change. Even within the Conservative movement we must incorporate new tactics. We must stop even paying attention to what Chris Rock tweeted or Chris Matthews spewed. We must stop analyzing the left and shaking our heads in disdain. Instead we must refocus every bit of our time and energy to their political annihilation. Each of us must commit ourselves to speaking out with meekness but boldness. We must not ignore water cooler politics and instead must engage on even the uncomfortable issues. We must know why we stand for what we stand for and we must be always prepared to articulate that. If each one of us can convert five independents and perhaps even a democrat or two into firm Conservative supporters, then we will have taken step one of about ten towards restoring the Republic. Each of us must think of the American soldier from the battle of Lexington all the way up to modern day Afghanistan. Do you think perhaps they have been forced outside their comfort zone from time to time? Of course they have, and therefore we must be willing to step outside of our own. For now we must forget protests, we instead must work towards winning and winning big at the ballot box. If you are old enough to be reading this, then there is one thing I can say to you with certainty-all our lives, all of our lives, we have existed on the capital earned by the sacrifices of those that came before us. We have built our lives and the lives of our children upon a foundation of freedom laid by the suffering and sacrifice of previous generations. Those days are gone now. And they likely will not return in our lifetime. This truly is freedoms last stand. When the founders came together for the first time as a group, some of them had no intention of defying the greatest superpower on earth. Some would have been thought unlikely leaders of a revolution. Despite this, when it was time to take a courageous stand, when they were thrust into a situation where they were the last hope for freedom, they stood to post. Now its your turn. Suddenly, and without even seeing that it was coming until it was upon you, you have been thrust into the role of a leader. There is risk. The resistance you face is daunting. The opposition is fierce. As you enter the fray, you will very likely suffer loss. But please, dont look to your political leaders, dont wait for your neighbors, and for the sake of freedom, dont give up. You were made for a time such as this, STAND TO POST!
