How Can Situations Like The Colorado Theatre Shooting Be Prevented?

Written on Saturday, July 21, 2012 by Dennis Marcellino

Why didn’t these things happen in the 1950’s? Why didn’t we need airport screenings then? Why didn’t people need to lock their house or car doors then? The answer is simple. There was more order then (especially in families) … which then naturally released more love and peace and security. I lived through it so I know that to be true personally. But a person can verify what I’m saying by listening to the music back then and watching the TV shows and movies. There was a different feeling in the air … even in the most impoverished communities. There was a patriotism in a country that we could be proud of and be united behind. Can we really be proud of today’s music and morals?

Here’s what it boils down to. There is a greater tolerance for “sin” now. And the natural, inbred reaction to sin is anger … to “correct” it and to implement “justice.” But political correctness has not only forced people to swallow that sin, but they even are arrested or sued for trying to speak out against it. But then at some point it explodes … in situations like these and domestic violence, even to the point where adults murder their families. We’re seeing it more and more in the news, whereas I never saw it in the news when I was growing up. The immorality of today’s society has made it very difficult to create and maintain a good marriage and family. And the feelings tied to marriage and family are VERY powerful … and therefore the anger to correct also is great.

The pressures of today are much greater. And pressure has to be released. But the love in a family helped people in the past. That’s why there weren’t a lot of gang murders, even in the black communities, where women were respected and people dressed nice and worked hard. But more than anything, God and His laws were respected above all else. But now we have rampant pornography and out of wedlock births. And those things tear at the family and cause the greatest pressure … in a person’s heart. So then a person either turns to violence or addictions to try to bring their internal experience to a good and not bad state. And poverty isn’t an excuse, because people were still generally civil even in the great depression. And in the Bible Paul says that he has learned to be content whether in poverty or riches. As a person who is devoted to God, I know that to also be true personally. I’m content in all situations JUST because I’m tied to and understand God.

The solution is this: a happy heart doesn’t do violence. And the way to have a happy heart is to love and obey God and just be tied to people who do the same. It’s that simple. But the mainstream institutions constantly work to keep God out of the media and schools. So then kids are pressured to go along with the mainstream.

So what can we do? Don’t vote for a democrat. That party is the party that promotes more and more tolerance to sin. And educate yourself and others to the realities that I’ve stated here.

In those same years the same cloaked judges ruled the Bible could not be taught in school

Good for them. Schools are no place for the violence and pornography that is in the Bible. Not to mention the FACT that people like you will INSIST it be presented as established fact instead of fiction.

and that prayer was offensive, even voluntary prayer in schools.

There is no such critter is voluntary prayer in schools when the prayer is led by the teachers,AND TRUE voluntary prayer is not and never has been banned in schools. You're just pissed because it can't be organized and peer pressure and the dominating influence of the teachers can't be used as tools to try to convert non-believers.

There is a connection but because you personally dismiss faith in God, you dismiss the court cases pushing God out of the American dialogue.

Why wouldn't it be true? My own mother told me about this when I was a child. She had witnessed this happen when the older woman across the street gave birth to a monster back in the early 40's. She said the child was smothered at birth, and the woman who gave birth was told it was stillborn.

You make the experience your mother witnessed seem like "normal" for all society. It was not. For every smothered and murdered deformed or mentally retarded baby there were 100s of thousands that were not and put in homes or cared for by the families. Back then there were plenty of church run and faith run homes where such children were properly cared for if the parents could not do it. One such home was a few blocks from my house. There I witnessed over 50 kids in wheel chairs with the most horrible deformities watch me and my friends play baseball on their grounds. Then there was a good classmate in my middle school. Had MD, went to regular classes and lived until he was 13. That little spark plug fought every day to breathe and he wanted to live and gave it his best. So the murderous midwives will have to give account for their deeds on the Last Day. And if they have not repented, it will be most horrible for them.

On the other hand, I am sure your mom did the right thing and reported the murderous bitch who smothered the babies at birth.

Wrong. While there was no yowling involved, there damn sure would have been if some of those babies had been allowed to live, and that's not even addressing the burden caring for such a child would have laid on the family.

So you think these midwives were doing the family a favor by murdering their children? And you approve of this? What a way to "play god" now isnt' it? But I can see this happening when parents, midwives and posters have no moral absolutes.

My own great grandparents who were farmers in Texas, had something like 13 o 14 kids; had a deformed son.....they didn't kill Ira....and that Great Grandpa was no 'thumper' or holy roller. So, we each have a story to hold up our view.

The difference re government approval of abortions: because it is the 'legal' jurisdiction under which people live that is saying 'go kill your kid with our blessing'........this has to send a message that life isn't worth much.

Back then, people didn't have the mindset that an elderly grandparent or aunt or a deformed child was a 'burden'. It was how the cards were dealt and you played that hand compared to today where 'it isn't fair'is the attitude that I have to deal with anything but myself, me , me, me. There were times when some could be sent to the poor or alms houses, and some to medical institutions.

Life experiences can shade or color our opinions. I had a neighbor in the mid 1960s who went to Mexico and had an abortion. The only way we found out was that she nearly bled to death after returning. Fortunately her brother who was a sailor came up from San Diego for the weekend and found her and got her to the hospital in time. Nice gal. Flight attendant.

Disregarding your lack of knowing what is actually going on in schools (I do know because I am active in the local schools), I think you have it backwards. You cannot bring yourself to the fact that this nation was founded on Christian principles. When those principles were banned from our teaching of youth, society quickly went in the crapper. There is a true cause and effect you will igore, because you have a deep hatred for those who believe in God and worship Him.

Let's go back to your wonderful post #11 when it seemed people knew right from wrong and how to keep bad people from hurting lawful citizens. You said "back in the 50s" "we" knew better, society knew better. It was not some humanistic secular book of "norms" or "rules" that made it that way. No, it was a nation that still revered and believed in God. I would even go the length that by the 50s, maybe most folks did not truly revere in God or believe in God, but their parents did, and their parents taught the next generation right and wrong based on their faith. So in effect the 50s and some of the 60s those growing up knew right from wrong and what "right" looked like but did not know "why" it was right only that their parents and church told them so. So since that next generation did not know the "why" they did not teach it to their kids because they could not explain it. That is why we are in the crapper now. That is why folks give opinions but they cannot cite why they believe something. That is why instead of one standard of morals there are millions, because everyone is their own 'god' and everything is relative. Everyone has truly become an island "entire of itself." And those islands stink, they are corrupt, murderous and heavily medicated. And those islands choose this pain, anger and fear because they deny or reject The Remedy to their ills.

The truth is even worse than that. Just a few hundred years ago living children were being left out in the cold to die in seasons where the crops had failed and the game was scarce. Just because people didn't talk about doesn't mean it didn't happen.

And the truth is even worse than that. Back in the days of Rome, the husband/father had complete control of his offspring. If he didn't want a child, it was thumbs down, and they were discarded alongside the road, in the trash pile or whatever.

And we have some evil, evil people in the USA today who are saying we should have this same ability in todays world! Preposterous! Right?

Well, who would have thunk 20 years ago queers would be getting married? Or our military would be proudly display queers in parades? Or that whites are the haters, and blacks are incapable of that? Or teaching kids how to put condoms on bananas in school is called sex education? Or that schools insteading of teaching reading, writing, and arithmetic are teaching that Heather has 2 Mommies, and that Adam and Steve are normal, just like you (the child)?

BTW,how can you look at a newborn and tell he or she is retarded? Or did you just throw that in for emotional reasons?

Back then there were plenty of church run and faith run homes where such children were properly cared for if the parents could not do it.

They clearly had the luxury of being able to afford to support a deformed son because of all the healthy sons they had, plus their established position as successful farmers. Good for them!

That wasn't everyone's reality,though.

Back then, people didn't have the mindset that an elderky grandparent or aunt or a deformed child was a 'burden'.

Correction: People with the LUXURY of having living conditions that allowed them to provide for the elderly didn't worry about providing for someone elderly and unable to work. For example, the Eskimos had a tradition of leaving their elderly out on the ice alone when the village had to pack up and move to fresher hunting grounds.

Life experiences can shade or color our opinions.

So can recorded history if you open your mind to the possibility of more than one reality.

Hollywood and the state run media (some call the MSM) don't want you to believe their products have anything to do with Holmes. The murderer dressed up like a character, was a "fan" of the movie series and chose to do the shooting at the opening of the latest movie in the series. A clear minded person would come to the conclusion the movie series, aka Hollywood and the media that promoted the movie series, would be a contributing factor. But instead they tried to blame lawful gun owners and the Tea Party, and talk radio. They, Hollywood, know it, we know it and they think we are all stupid not to realize what is clear.

By the time I finished reading the bolded part of the quote, my mind was thinking they were gonna say 'white man--its a racist shooting'!! LOL.....dumb, I know, but to their little minds, it would relieve any guilt pointing their way.

I, for one, Pete, don't want any teachers leading prayer in school. They've screwed up the subjects they supposedly trained to teach. I cannot believe they would somehow do a fantastic job on something they seemingly know so little about. JMO.

Regarding the Bible with violence and sacrifices and such......history is replete with nations doing violence, sacrifices, and such-- ancient times, and in modern times. History books contain stories, as do many library books and magazine and newspaper articles....and now the internet.

Archaeology is full of such findings--do we toss out anything archaeology teaches us? burn all those books, newspapers, and magazines? Delete the internet?

I believe you may be overspeaking here, redleghunter. i've known Pete for many, many years (like 12 years or so) and not known him as a hater. I know full well he has no use for religion, but he knows I am a Christian and that hasn't jarred our friendship.

However, you may have a different frame of reference for a different reason.

Sam and Beulah had l son die at birth; and one other son that grew to adulthood besides Ira. All the rest of the passel of kids were girls.

And I think they had something like 40 acres in a not so wealthy part of Texas.

And her grandmother was a midwife and her grandfather a Doctor, though he had been shot to death many years before while out on a house call.

Just yesterday while researching a different family line, I came across a notation that one of the daughters 'had a limp' from birth; that she never married; she lived with her parents; and was buried next to them when she died. This was a family of 6 kids IIRC and was in Alabama or Georgia.

I also have the sister of Beulah who was crippled in some way, never married, and is buried beside her parents in Oklahoma. That was a family of 14 kids, of which 4 were boys and John and Janie were NOT wealthy by any stretch.

I can also say that one finds this sort of information all the time in going thru family histories. And on census forms you oftentimes come across 'schools' or 'institutions' that have a lot of children in them with notations of their condition.

I haven't done a census research project regarding the matter of rural vs city living. However, it is difficult to believe that more people lived in rural places when you consider that states like Montana (3rd or 4th largest) and Idaho have existed all their statehood years without attaining a million people (unless it has been done with this last census) vs NYC alone having millions; ditto LA, Houston, Louisiana, San Francisco, Chicago, Atlantas, Philadelphia, and Pittsburg, and Detroit.

Agriculture has been on a steady downhill course since the early part of the last century.

Not by a public education teacher! It belongs in the home. That's what a father is for--to direct and guide his son through high growing up, formative years. Government has no place in that. They can't even control themselves, so what would make me think they could do a good job with my child?

You can stick your head in the sand if you want but deformed children were born, have been born and continue to be born and live. Midwives and nurses know by simple response tests if a child is mentally retarded or Downs. I don't know what house of horrors you grew up in or what "children of the corn" town you resided, but your generalizations are bunk. It is clear you condone the murder of deformed children. You clearly lay out why you support the wholesale murder of those who are deformed. It is all financial and convenience related. Same bogus claim the abortionists give today.

Don't know where you get from my statements that God is going to torture deformed murdered by midwives babies. Those are your words, my words referred to the murderers who would put themselves above God to be their own god to make decisions on who should or should not live. The test of a just society is how they treat those with lesser means and those who cannot help themselves. Your "children of the corn" horror house town fails this test.

It has nothing to do with "holier than thou", on the other hand it has to do with obeying God's commands and Words. This has nothing to do with "feelings." It has to do with revering God and His Creation. My position is firmly tied to an absolute. You do not kill an innocent life. You do not murder. What the midwife did and your mother condoned was murder. Those that did and condoned the murder did so because they feared their lives would be changed and inconvenienced. That is selfishness and shows those people had no hope or faith in anything other than themselves. Your far out country example does not hold water. Country folk back then had cars or trucks. They had the ability to drive to the pastor or priest for help and get a deformed child to the proper care.

"Tell us all about how YOU would take the food out of the mouth of a healthy child that was able to do the work necessary to help keep a family alive,to give it to a unhealthy/handicapped child that would never be anything but a burden on the family and the whole "tribe"."

Your above position is clear. But at what age is the "cut off" point for smothering. Suppose the child is 3 years old and developed cancer. Did your family "ville" just drown the kid in the pond or did they try to get the kid help? Was that sensible or did they lock the kid in the basement until he or she died? Did they suffocate granny because she was going to die soon anyway and needed her food for the healthy baby? How absurd and telling this "ville" was and what it produced.

Because it's NOT a fact. We not only DON'T have a religious government, the FF's wee specific about the separation of Church and State.

There is a true cause and effect you will igore, because you have a deep hatred for those who believe in God and worship Him.

You have that backwards. It is the true believers that have a deep hatred for non-believers. Why not just come out and damn me to burn in hell fire for eternity while you are at it? We all know that is what you are thinking. After all, doesn't your kind and loving God say this is what happens to non-believers that don't kiss his ass and the asses of the asses that represent him?

No, it was a nation that still revered and believed in God.

Horseshit.

You keep saying we are not built on Christian principles, I provided numerous references and you could not find one jot in response other than your opinion.

I don't hate you, nor do I want to see you punished eternally. I can't do any of what you claim above, only God can. He is the Judge. My job is to point people to His Word. If they ignore or reject, the blood is not on my hands.

I can also say that one finds this sort of information all the time in going thru family histories. And on census forms you oftentimes come across 'schools' or 'institutions' that have a lot of children in them with notations of their condition.

And those are the recorded accounts of families taking care of their own and working with the hand dealt to them. Even my mother growing up on a dirt poor Irish farm told me about the relatives who had conditions like the ones above. Never did murder come into the mind. Those with less abilities were loved more and protected more. She used to tell us that some winters were lean on food, but on a farm, even a poor farm, you always find ways to feed the clan.

Farmers wives could make filling, good tasting meals out of a little lard, flour, milk, and maybe a swish of a cow's tail through it.

I lived my first 9 years in farming country. My mother could cook. When we moved to the big city, even in the toughest of times, we always had food on the table--wasn't caviar by any stretch, or filet minon, but downright good tasting and filling.

When my elderly mother finally decided to move up here to be near my brother and I, we were both so excited because we couldn't wait to taste her fried chicken again.

I've eaten a lot of fried chicken in my time, but hers was simply the best. Toss in some milk gravy and mashed potatoes--yeah, some of her biscuits, too, and you'd be thinking you were already in heaven.

I, for one, Pete, don't want any teachers leading prayer in school. They've screwed up the subjects they supposedly trained to teach. I cannot believe they would somehow do a fantastic job on something they seemingly know so little about. JMO.

I sure can't argue with that.

he knows I am a Christian and that hasn't jarred our friendship

And why would it? I would never presume to tell you or anyone else that you can't be religious or what your religious beliefs have to be.

We are free to be anything we want in this country as long as we aren't harming anyone else, and I wouldn't change that even if I could.

Just look at how boring life would be if you only talked with people that agreed with you on everything.

Not by a public education teacher! It belongs in the home. That's what a father is for--to direct and guide his son through high growing up, formative years.

I agree, but we can't overlook the fact that a awful lot of boys don't have a father at home to coach them on anything, and sadly,it seems like a lot of today's mothers just can't be bothered to try to teach their children anything.

And I think you would have to agree that trying to stop the spread of VD is a genuine public interest.

They can, they just don't want to.

You can stick your head in the sand if you want but deformed children were born, have been born and continue to be born and live.

Of course they are. I'd be willing to bet a bigger percentage are born and live today than at any other time in history, other than the short period in the 50's when some drug was given to pregnant women. That one drug whose name I can't remember right now had nightmare results.

They do now,but historically they didn't.

I don't know what house of horrors you grew up in or what "children of the corn" town you resided, ....

"Children of the corn"? Really? What does your loving God have to say about things like that?

It is clear you condone the murder of deformed children.

It is clear you are a idiot.

You clearly lay out why you support the wholesale murder of those who are deformed. It is all financial and convenience related. Same bogus claim the abortionists give today.

Also you are either a liar,or too stupid to recognize the difference between reporting/commenting and promoting. I'll leave it to you to pick one.

And your posts prove why you need a religious leader to tell you how to think. Otherwise you would be playing in the traffic.

Ridiculous. Why are you lying about what he said?

Many of us can't see the video you posted. Maybe, you could be a smart poster and post the REAL link to the content of your post. What the HELL are you doing without an explicit ASCII link, anyway?

What is your personal comment, Mike? Do you have any other comment about yourself or personal perspective other than riding a bike and going to college and loving Eugene, OR, USA and voting fr 0bama other than WAYYYYYY BACK in your personal history..... you climbed a tree and was hacked?
