And if memory serves me correctly, I heard/read that she actually visted in the home of Korbel (sp)--Mad's dad a lot...I believe with a good deal of visiting with Mad. Since the 1960s black leaders have told them to look to government for solutions, rather than becoming entrepreneurs and building their own communities. This is a huge problem for the future of this country.

Had the plight of the black man in the US ended with slavery 150 years ago, your question would be valid. However, you discount the fact that blacks continued to be discriminated against, and that it wasn't really until the Civil Rights Movement in the 1960's when Jim Crow laws were ended that blacks attained equality under the law. I would also assert that discrimination against blacks continues today, albeit at a much lower scale. You also still haven't provided me with the source for your 60/5 statistics. I would also be interested in seeing a comparison between whites and blacks in terms of these percentages. Since you obviously found them somewhere, can you provide the source? The big problem is that their leadership has generally failed them. Since the 1960s black leaders have told them to look to government for solutions, rather than becoming entrepreneurs and building their own communities. This I do not know, since I don't pay much attention to who their leaders really are and what they say.
