**Exclusive**

Late Thursday evening, Mitt Romney's presidential campaign launched a new fundraising drive, 'Meet The VP' -- just as Romney himself has narrowed the field of candidates to a handful, sources reveal.

And a surprise name is now near the top of the list: Former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice!

The timing of the announcement is now set for 'coming weeks'.

MORE

It was Condi who received two standing ovations at Romney's Utah retreat a few weeks ago, and everyone left with her name on their lips.

Rice made an extended argument for American leadership in the world.

In recent days, she emailed supporters:

"2012 is perhaps a turning point for the United States."

"The upcoming elections loom as one of the most important in my lifetime," she warned. "I'm very often asked to speak about our current foreign policy and the challenges that lie before us. However, we, as a country, are not going to be able to address any of those international challenges unless we first get our domestic house in order."

Get ready to start looking for somebody else to vote for, then. Condi is his best choice to win because she would divide the united black voter block,as well as draw in all the "white guilt" voters that put Obummer over the top the last time.

Plus she is smart and travels in the same social and financial circles as Rombama. He will be comfortable around her and so will his handlers.

She would do no such thing. Blacks are overwhelmingly Democrats. They would view Rice on the ticket as nothing more than a cynical ploy.

If Romney wants a bold pick, he'd be better off choosing New Mexico Governor Susana Martinez, South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley, or Tennessee Congressman Marsha Blackburn.

I personally like Blackburn. She's bright, articulate, attractive, and a Tea Party favorite. She would help Romney close the gap with women. I like her a great deal.

Yeah, because we all know that black women would never vote for another black woman, and that black women have zero influence in black communities, huh?

Good thinking!

You are either stupid or delusional if you think that a black Republican is going to split the black vote, as you stated in your original assertion.

Whether in prison or on welfare, blacks are first and foremost wards of the state. It has been bred into them for generations. They are not going to abandon that mentality very easily.

Archie Bunker and David Duke couldn't have said it any better.

60% of blacks are on welfare. At any given time, 5% of blacks are in prison (29% of black men between 20 and 29 are under some type of correctional supervision, whether jail, prison, or parole).

So, 2/3rds of blacks are wards of the state in some manner.

These are called facts.

My statement stands.

Even if this is true (You have provided no source for which I can verify these "facts"), one must consider the history of blacks in America from Day 1, when they were brought over as slaves, to understand why this may be the case. If it has in fact been "bred into them for generations," who exactly is to blame for this?

Let me see if I understand this correctly. You are claiming the above by jwpegler

is untrue, but then turn around and excuse it using bogus "history"?

The first blacks were NOT brought here as slaves. They were indentured servants, just like their white counterparts right up to the time a former BLACK indentured servant enslaved HIS indentured servant and made a slave out of him.

You don't understand correctly. Jwpegler is right, you do have reading comprehension difficulties. Go back and reread what I wrote and tell me if I said it was untrue. I merely said that he didn't not provide a source for his assertion so I could verify it myself. It may very well be true, but I don't know. I'd like to see the source where he got this information. That's all.

The first blacks were NOT brought here as slaves. They were indentured servants, just like their white counterparts right up to the time a former BLACK indentured servant enslaved HIS indentured servant and made a slave out of him.

Whether or not this is true, this hardly takes away from how blacks were treated in the US from the early days until the Civil Rights Movement and beyond. Sure, things are way better for blacks now and discrimination is way lower, but don't even begin to try to make the claim that it's non-existant, even today.

Oh, and before you even try to make some bogus claim that I support racism among blacks... don't bother, because I don't. Racist blacks deserve just as much scorn as racist whites.
