Report: 83 percent of doctors have considered quitting over Obamacare

By Sally Nelson

Eighty-three percent of American physicians have considered leaving their practices over President Barack Obama’s health care reform law, according to a survey released by the Doctor Patient Medical Association.

The DPMA, a non-partisan association of doctors and patients, surveyed a random selection of 699 doctors nationwide. The survey found that the majority have thought about bailing out of their careers over the legislation, which was upheld last month by the Supreme Court.

Even if doctors do not quit their jobs over the ruling, America will face a shortage of at least 90,000 doctors by 2020. The new health care law increases demand for physicians by expanding insurance coverage. This change will exacerbate the current shortage as more Americans live past 65.

By 2025 the shortage will balloon to over 130,000, Len Marquez, the director of government relations at the American Association of Medical Colleges, told The Daily Caller.

“One of our primary concerns is that you’ve got an aging physician workforce and you have these new beneficiaries — these newly insured people — coming through the system,” he said. “There will be strains and there will be physician shortages.”

The DPMA found that many doctors do not believe the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act will lead to better access to medical care for the majority of Americans, co-founder of the DPMA Kathryn Serkes told TheDC.

“Doctors clearly understand what Washington does not — that a piece of paper that says you are ‘covered’ by insurance or ‘enrolled’ in Medicare or Medicaid does not translate to actual medical care when doctors can’t afford to see patients at the lowball payments, and patients have to jump through government and insurance company bureaucratic hoops,” she said. The American Medical Association, which endorsed Obama’s health care overhaul, was not able to immediately offer comment on the survey. Spokesperson Heather Lasher Todd said it would take time to review the information in the survey.

Janelle Davis of the American Academy of Family Physicians said the AAFP could not provide thoughtful commentary without studying the survey’s findings and methodology.

Some good some bad but there are always alternatives........

If they are old enough and have everything pretty much in place for retirement why not say to hell with the headaches and head out the door. With the new laws they won't be making money anymore so why waste the time going to work, retire and find something else to do to keep occupied..... piss on what the government wants you to do!!!

I know many doctors through work, church, etc. While it may be true those under 50 still are in debt, nothing could be further from the truth for those above 50, and that is the group who are fed up and will be retiring.

Socialized medicine is a nightmare in Russia and East Europe, and according to Russian friends living in the UK it's even worse.

What's worse than a nightmare?

And the Russians were able to survive the collapse of the USSR

BECAUSE of Soviet Housing/Work rules.

Waiting for the West....see UK for details.........to understand this......;}

Baloney! My wife and her family suffered the collapse of the USSR, you didn't.

They worked for months with no pay, and the only reason their homes wwere not forclosed on was because the banks were bankrupt, and no one could purchase the homes. My wife was director of a large school, and begged parents for Bubles to keep it opsen.

The only communists you see in Russia are total failures. All they do is sit in front of the Communist Party Headquarters eating Lay's Potato Chips and drinking Pepsi. They are the scum of the earth.

You don't know WTF I've done and lived thru.

And I've never been to Mars, but I know what conditions are like there.

"They worked for months with no pay,"

But took home the products they made to make up the difference. Imagine that happening in the USSA....they'd be shot on sight.

"and the only reason their homes wwere not forclosed on was because the banks were bankrupt, and no one could purchase the homes. "

OOO NONONONO.

Slide [9] One important element of collapse-preparedness is making sure that you don't need a functioning economy to keep a roof over your head. In the Soviet Union, all housing belonged to the government, which made it available directly to the people. Since all housing was also built by the government, it was only built in places that the government could service using public transportation. After the collapse, almost everyone managed to keep their place.

In the United States, very few people own their place of residence free and clear, and even they need an income to pay real estate taxes. People without an income face homelessness. When the economy collapses, very few people will continue to have an income, so homelessness will become rampant. Add to that the car-dependent nature of most suburbs, and what you will get is mass migrations of homeless people toward city centers.

The only communists you see in Russia are total failures.

TWO all inclusives in one short sentence.

First Rule of T/F quizzes:

All inclusives are automatically False.....;}

Ex:

"All they do is sit in front of the Communist Party Headquarters eating Lay's Potato Chips and drinking Pepsi."

"They are the scum of the earth."

Spoken like a True missionary. Going to save them one Commie at a time. And then go to Heaven to get your well deserved wings.....;}

The fact that Russia lets folks like you hang around invalidates your statements.....;}
