LEFT WING LOONS Title: Gay California Assemblyman Pushing Law to Force Foster Parents to have LGBT Sensitivity Training Gay California Assemblyman Pushing Law to Force Foster Parents to have LGBT Sensitivity Training July 10, 2012 by Giacomo California Assemblyman Tom Ammiano, a Democrat from San Francisco, is pushing a bill through the state legislature that will force all foster parents, administrators of group home facilities or even extended family member caregivers to undergo 40 hours LGBT gender sensitivity training. His argument is that he doesn’t want children to be confused about their gender identity. But allow me to introduce you to Tom Ammiano, the bill’s sponsor. A former elementary school teacher, he was first elected to the school board in San Francisco in 1990. In 1994, he was elected to the San Francisco Board of Supervisor and held that position until 2008, when he won election to the state assembly where he continues to serve. Not only does he represent the San Francisco area, but he is also a gay rights activist. This is probably due to the fact that Ammiano is gay himself. He lost his male partner, Tim Curbo to HIV complications back in 1994 just days before the election to the Board of Supervisors. Introduced into the state legislature, Assembly Bill 1856 recently passed the California State Assembly by a 72-3 vote and now heads to the state Senate. According to Ammiano and Equality California, the largest LGBT advocacy group in the state, the bill was designed to give gender sensitivity training for foster care providers of LGBT youths. However, the way the bill was written, it requires all foster care providers to take the 40 hours of classroom training regardless if they care for any LGBT children or not. According to the National Center for Lesbian Rights, approximately 5%-10% of the kids in foster care are LGBT. Opponents of the bill, such as Phil Burress with Citizens for Community Values, believes the measure will only help to confuse children about their own sexual identity. He explains: “It’s going to continue to confuse children. This is the way the homosexual activists continue to build their numbers — is to get people confused about their gender identity and start acting out.” “Obviously, people who care about children — Christian couples — they will probably go ahead and go through the training if they’re required to. When they start raising them, they’re just going to have to raise them as Christians.” I wonder what would happen in the California state assembly if a Christian assemblyperson were to introduce a counter bill requiring all foster care providers to undergo 40 hours of classroom training on biblical sexual identity? After all, if only 5%-10% of the kids are from LGBT backgrounds, that means that there are 90%-95% that are from ‘straight’ backgrounds. However, it seems that the majority no longer rules in America. The minorities scream and holler the most and the loudest and thus end up getting their way. At the rate things are going, it won’t be long until Christian families are in the minority, but unlike today, I don’t see the liberal majority caring one iota about our screaming and hollering. That’s why we need to start standing up and screaming and hollering now before it’s too late and we’ve lost everything.
