How are all you finefolks doing? Just enjoying myself at Daytona Beach.
Enjoy yourself. We received some unexpected and much needed rain this afternoon.
I think I was at Daytona Beach for the Daytona 500 in 2005 or so with three friends. I'm not a racing fan but we had some tavern talk and decided to go so I had to stick by my guns. It was fun but an overall ripoff when looking at hotel prices, etc. We were about 45 miles away in our hotel, along the interstate so it wasn't really that long of a drive. I don't even remember who won. The best seat is in front of the television.
Drove by the track on the way in. Anyway this place is much deader then last time I was here 2 years ago. Lots of boarded up businesses. Took my kids to the Daytona Lagoon. They got an all day pass and there was no wait for anything. They rode the go carts most of the day. They probably burned through more gas then the price of admission.
Went out to eat. The waiter, Alan was a nice gentleman. He said he had never seen a fathers day this slow.
Also a 14 year old boy got pulled out in a riptide today at about 4pm. They didn't find the body yet. I would hate to be those parents and I pray for them in this horrible time in their life. I'm staying at the Holiday Inn. Next door at the Desert Inn I read that someone drowned about 3 weeks ago here too. I'll be keeping an extra close eye on the kids tomorrow. In other words I will be with them if they are in the ocean. I was today anyways so nothing unusual there.
I also read but didn't post that Obama is going to give Multinational corporatiopns special rights so they can ignore U.S. Law. Obama is a piece of shit. I want Obama to have a heart attack and die. We would all be better off. In fact the world would have been better off if Obamas mama had an abortion.
Good one Fred but the corporate PR operation (where Axlerod makes his moolah, beyond regular Chicago graft) will tell you that it is only the foreign corporations that are heartless and greedy...and smell funny.
Speaking of Daytona Beach, it will be more comfortable there than Chicago this week where I have to be several days.
As to NASCAR, I would guess that any racing venue without Dannica Patrick would be welcomed by everybody else's pit crews...just like the Navy. Keep females off the damn boats.
